I use shelflife boilies for the majority of my fishing and like to prep them 12 - 24 hours in advance.
I have a winter/spring bait that is a sweet nutty flavour and soak with water, baileys and some carnation milk. I like the cloud it initially gives off.
I then use a fishmeal through the summer and autumn and have been using water and the liquid available in the same range.
What does everyone use to pre soak and prep? Quite interested in something homemade that I can play around with.
Mainly spodding as the gulls are a nightmare so don't mind a soft bait and will use alongside particle in the summer

I too like the carnation/baileys combo in conjunction with crumb for the colder months. Try also adding some crushed tigers or tigernut flour to enhance the cloud.
When using fishmeals I add a cheap Oyster sauce and perhaps some Chili sauce.

Last summer I used Poacher Baits Fruit Frenzy boilies, coated with the matching liguid and then added Essential B5 Stick Mix/Chilli Powder to coat them. I'll use similar this summer but I have some BAF liquid. :-)
Winter just use small bags.

squid brand for fishmeals it doesn't get any better second choice would be liquid belachan.
I like the idea of the tigernut flour, will add fome to my next batch and test.
Squid brand sauce/oyster seems popular, what sort of quantities are you adding it in and are you also diluting it in water?
After reading another thread I think the squid brand along with some garlic will be something I'll try next week.

Believe it or not, I'm not one for doing anything to my boilies, and just use them straight out of the bag.
I might add some to my groundbait and particle mix, a mix of whole and crumbed boilies, both freezer and shelf life.
I have caught so many fish from Nazeing Meads, Earith, Alton Water and Ardleigh on baits as they are I'm happy to grab them straight out of the bag.

Too much fathing around.
Pigeon conditioner + Baileys in the winter (the alcohol helps it dissipate in colder temps) or + coconut milk in the warmer temps (contains oil not that oils have an impact in a spod mix)
Add your boiles same time as you add your liquids to the PC, roughly 24 hours prior to going, jobs a goodun.
All the above (apart from the boilies) comes without a tax or bull**** from a Carp company. You don't need sweet in the winter and fishmeal in the summer either.
Don't waste time and money on flour's etc, if you want to thicken it up chuck in 4mm carp pellets, there isn't a Carp that swims that hasn't seen a pellet.
"Squid sauce seems popular " first rule of carping do something different, that includes chucking out the same old crap all the other You Tube anglers see.

Try not prepping at all and using straight from the bag. Soaking in various lotions and potions is not always beneficial, particularly in a age where everyone is doing it.
Remember it's in bait makers and their employees/sponsored anglers interests to brain wash the paying public into thinking it's necessary to sell more product. Particularly in a age where profits in making boilies is shrinking by the day.

To be honest i only go to such lengths in the winter, or for short session fishing or when I am on an overnighter and that is generally on the river where the next carp could be a long way away.
If I have the luxury of a 3-4 day session I am very happy to fish boilies straight out of the packet.

Some great information and insight here thanks. Just back from a session and tried 2 methods, boilies straight out the bag on 1 rod and the other rod soaked in squid brand, water and some garlic liquid recommended by one if the baitmaker threads on here. I caught 3 on the prepped boilie and 1 on the out the bag. Maybe coincidence and it would be impossible to say from just 1 session but I'll continue to trial through the over the next few sessions.
