What do you guys use if using braided mainline had a discussion today with a few anglers at the show

Braid mainline straight to braid leadless leader or
Braid with three rod lengths of fluro then leadless leader
Braid with three lengths of fluro and no leader

So many variations they all came back with

Braid with approx three lengths of fluro leader when casting.

Braid with 6 feet of 30lb mirage fluorocarbon leader - Don't forget to use a finger stall for casting though!

3 or 4 turns on the reel and your casting drop of 30lb Amnesia mono works as well as fluorocarbon.

If its for out and out distance I use a braided leader, or braid right through (with tubing or a lead free leader). If not I always prefer 3 or 4 turns on the spool of fluro and fish the rig naked.

Braid straight to leadless leader

Currently using Gardner hydro sink noir with about 15ft of 30lb mirage fluro as a leader, it's super thick and soft, sinks like a brick.

Hydro sink noir casts like absolute rubbish though, but it's by far the best sinking braid, I sometimes use kinetic if I need the distance but always use the same fluro leader setup.

Might be a silly question as never used braid. But what is the point of using a fluro leader that is longer than 4-6 foot? There's very little stretch in fluro as years ago people used to used mono as a like a bungee between the braid and the fish, however all the people i've seen use braid on lakes i fish just fish it straight to the leader. Just curious why people fish long leaders that go onto the reel as tempted to try braid this year.

If you use a fluoro leader of .35 or above it also acts as a casting leader. No need for a fingerstall and has a bit of give, so less likely to crack off than a thin braid.

Helps keep the line down toward the rig end if you're using a neutral bouyancy braid.

Gives you a bit more stretch playing the fish than straight braid.

its what I do
25 to 30lb black Amnesia mono depending on hook link breaking strain
3 or 4 turns on the reel + length of the rod Albright Knot
works for me

Braid with a braided leader 3 turns on the spool for distance work.
Braid through to 3 turns of fluro on the everyday stuff

Straight through to 6 foot of leadcore or 6 foot of flurocarbon. Depending on where/ how I'm fishing.
