Hats.....

I'm looking ahead,I know it's January, but time moves fast ..what all round hat,not cap would people recommend?

I'm looking at Tilley hats...,and looking for some water proofing and good facial and neck protection..

(Now,I won't go into details,but I've had a brush with something not too good and I work ,play,live outside a lot..)

Any feedback greatly appreciated...thank you.

I have 2 favourite hats my WOMBAT LEATHER hat great for shade and weather protection in the rain but if we get extreme heat like we just had then the TILLEY Airflo Hat comes out its got a removable pad inside that you wet and its brilliant at not overheating you

I would suggest you really need to try them on. My flat caps are 7&3/8, my Tilley 7&5/8. No idea which is correct size.
Just looked at one of my caps, it's 7&3/8 UK, or 7&1/2 USA. As Tilley are Canadian they may use the American sizing.

Like Gerry I wear the one in the link and a large brimmed leather or waxed cotton one in winter rain but I also have flat caps in tweed and waxed cotter.

yes I just measured my head and ordered to size the one on Goose link is a good price this is my leather one I bought it in 2013 its brilliant LINKY POO

I've had the hemp medium brim Tilley for nearly 20 years.
Great in summer. Keeps.sun off face.and neck. Very breathable

I've just looked at them ,so many types but they all look a great buy those Tilleys,..I might get two ...one for work ,other for fishing etc...

Great advice on here ,I just hope I've helped others as well over the yrs ...

(Like I mentioned I've had a wake up call )....I remember posting a yr or two back about keeping covered up...Craghopper shirts etc Danny...!

Mines the Outback in olive green waxed cotton. I really like it but it's not fully waterproof and despite having four large ventilation eyelets near the top, it can still get a bit sweaty around the headband. It's got quite a large brim though, and does keep the sun off your face and neck. I often fly fish in northern Scotland, the brim keeps the rain off my glasses, and is ideal for wearing with a midge net.

yes the leather hat is my favourite
those Aussies know a good hat and I did a fair bit of research and the Wombat brand is a great one and of course it keeps your neck and head free from sunburn and showerproof in rain win win
I only wear my Tilley in extreme heat

I got a good hat for last summer.

Tilley Ultralight Sun Hat

It's great, lightweight, not too hot, sun protection and decent at water repelling.

I cut the string bit off as it was bugging me!

my Tilley hat is the one with the removable insert that you can soak in water and on a hot day as it evaporates it draws the air thru the hat helping you to keep cool think it maybe the only one that has this ? its a Tilley T4M0-1 Hiker's Hat
