Looking to book a trip to France. My missus kindly offered to pay for a week for us for my birthday next year.

Obviously there are thousands of options and finding the right one is going to take a while.

To whittle down the choices here are my requirements

- Lake has to be pretty

- preferably with clear water and nice fish in good condition

-Good chance of action, basically would like a runs water for 30's & 40's with half decent chance of a 50. Although obviously would love the chance of 60 and 70+ but this isn't imperative

-Would love a lake where I could use a boat as haven't done this kind of fishing.

- preferably a lake where I've got a bit of freedom, so not just stuck in one swim. If I wanna move around during the day I can and lakes that don't have every swim booked out etc.

- would love a small 3+acre lake exclusive but don't know how pricey that would be

Any recommendations chaps?

These are all small lakes that you can book exclusively.

Legendia formerly Carpinvasion is a lovely venue, Lac Desire 2 is a cracking little lake although I don't know who runs that now, Moulicent if you can get on there? Lac perdu looks superb too with the fish growing very quickly!

Rivets is lovely RKB but a bit bigger than 3 acres......

Take a look on the Angling Lines website, I would be surprised if you don't find something on there. I would recommend Golden Oaks, but it is slightly bigger than you are looking for and well booked up (I have trips provisionally booked as far ahead as 2028)

Preferably I'd like a 7-14 acre lake kind of size. I've said 3+ as I don't want to scondoerr anything smaller than 3 acres

Is it just you and the wife? 7-14 acres might be expensive as they are normally for 5-8 anglers. It might be better for you to go no bigger than 5 acres. If it's just you fishing that's still plenty of room to move around.

Have a look at The Carp Specialist site theyre a booking agent with a wide range of waters of all sizes to suit your requirements, not sure on what you have considered for cost of a lake exclusive but they have a few smaller waters from 3 to 8 acres with accommodation and carp to 60lb+ in some, use of boats etc... just need to enter your details on the advanced search and it will give suggestions, it depends on time of year on or off peak but around £1000/1200 notes would get you what your looking for, I've fished a few of the waters on their books but generally drive and survive on the larger lakes, I'm sure they might have something that suits.

Bas from The Carp Specialist is easy to deal with give him a call they take on new waters yearly and he may have something in the pipeline for next year he could suggest that may not be live on their site yet, some of the larger lakes have accommodation in certain swims but obviously budget will dictate on exclusivity or sharing the lake with other anglers which might not give you the freedom to roam about.

Lac de Laneuville not far from Chanty so 3.5hrs drive.

Exclusive 4-5 acre lake with a beautiful gite. LOADS of 40-50lb fish and you can have it to yourself and fish from the Gite. Very sensibly priced. Contact them, yourll be surprised. Awesome venue

I would second that. They get quite a few bookings from single anglers who want to take their wives.
