I don't have the Ci4s but have owned a set of 5500s for a good many years on my lighter set up and really like them, tried the ESP compacts for a while but soon put my trustee 5500s back on.

Been using them for 8 years.
I really like them and no plans to change. Prefer them to my Tournaments which I had before.

I've got the Ci4 5500 XTB and they're excellent reels, although I ditched the original drags and fitted standard ones.

I use the ci4+ 5500 on Shimano TX2 10ft 2.75 which balance, look and feel great. Beautiful looking reels and very smooth IMHO.
Not sure I would put them on my 12ft TX2 3.0 though.
Very quick drag I've found with minimal, in fact incremental adjustment.

I have 4 of the Ci4 XTB models
They are lovely. If there was anything better out there I would buy that instead (not found anything yet)
If I need to cast further I use Tech MgS XTBs
If I'm at the river I use Ci4 medium baitrunners
All great reels...I didn't buy XTC models of the first two reels mentioned as they looked/felt too plasticy

As already mentioned by others I have the XTB version and they are very nice reels. Not seen the XTC but have noticed a few sets go up for sale on ebay where's you don't see as many xtb's go up

TBF I like them but have far too many sets of reels and downsizing.

The ultegra xtb are long discontinued both the Current ultegra ci4 5500 xtc and 5500 xtd are both decent reels owned both in the past . I'm currently using the slightly older ci4 5500 xtb

Ditto, got two of the Ci4 XTBs.. wish I'd bought another 4. They won't make a reel like that again.
The two latest versions , the C and D, have way too quick drag, impossible to play a fish on properly.
Hear that the latest 14000 E , has a slower drag. The way things are right now, can't see Shimano bringing out a smaller 5500 though.

I ended up buying 6 in total as I was impressed with my first two.
I am no reel expert but I think they would take some beating for that size of reel.
