We all like a bargain but it's clear the retailers are up to their collective tricks again 2 weeks ahead of the discount bonanza day that us Black Friday.
I am after a wrap for my T1 Titan but thought I would wait to see if I could pick one up a bit cheaper on BF....the cheapest I was keeping an eye on was £219.99 with a certain retailer....that last week went up to £239.99 and this morning £259.99....so when they announce their usual "15% off Black Friday deals" it will reduce it to more or less the original price at £220.99....
I'm sure there will be more examples to come...

I suppose with the rises in overheads, more than ever they can't afford to take small margins and have to make money where they can. Black Friday stopped being a thing years ago, it's just a marketing tactic.
It would be nice if the manufacturers gave the retailers a discount, giving that most of the stuff is made in sweatshops in China.....

This is a brilliant flag.
I purchased 3 korum rods from a big tackle shop 2 weeks ago - brilliant price and service.
The exact same rods have now increased in price by £40 in the same on sale page in preparation for the Black Friday sale that will I assume put them back close to the price I achieved. I won't name them as they are probably all at it - it's legal as it's a previously advertised price BUT BY CHRIST ITS A CON. either shop at least 28 days befor Black Friday or wait for the event early November seems to be about price inflation to justify BF deals

The only real way to get a bargain is to wait and follow the price trend on your potential purchase. Most people don't have the luxury of time or the ready cash at the right time. That's why the rich get richer and the poor will always be with us. It was ever thus.

good thread happens all the time bank holidays Jan sales etc same with everything even food in Supermarkets do it

You can usually get genuine good deals on bait, a couple of years ago I got 30% off over £200 worth of bait, the boilies worked out at less than £5.50 a kilo!!
Baitworks, Poachers, DNA, Carp Company, Turners to name but a few have all done BF deals in the past. They may not be as generous in today's climate for the discount, but some of them will do something.
