Hi all,

Obviously you can buy illuminated swingers/bobbins but has anyone ever made/found a kit to illuminate bobbins? I have always found isotopes pretty useless and would love to illuminate my defiant bobbins.

Whilst I'm sure I could find a suitable LED/jack plug and botch something together I wonder if anyone makes a kit or someone has tried something similar.

There was a company in Tamworth doing them Custom Illumination Bobbins I think they were called,not sure if still going though

Solar made some with batteries

I have a set I could sell if you're interested

Regarding the Solar battery powered ones - I'll pass, thanks though. I'd want them to run off the alarm so that they illuminate during takes/mimic the alarm LED.

There was a guy on ebay but it looks like he has gone too,maybe Daletronics could convert some

The problem as I see it, is no alarm manufacturer wants to giveaway a potential revenue stream by opening up to 3rd party suppliers - and what happens if they cause the alarm to malfunction / become damaged - who is going to pay ?

Not sure in terms of anyone that supplies a kit, however what are you trying to achieve?
I only ask as i'm thinking you could purchase these (ebay item number 174909934356), and just strip them apart leaving the wire and led, and incorporate them into other bobbins, creating your custom illuminated bobbin. Just an idea

Funnily enough after posting I was looking at cheapo eBay sets and thinking of canibilising them - probably the easiest way to do it I think.
