not a method of angling i generally use but need to up my game on solid PVA bags . Is this system any good for ease or any other recommendations ? Fox Rapide ?

i am all a bit fingers and thumbs for PVA bags -especially in the wet / cold.

any recommendations appreciated.

I tried the rapids loading and found it to be a ball ache. I was all fingers and thumbs to start with, but with a bit of practice becomes quick and easy to tie up a bag. I also normally tie up 8/10 bags the night before so have plenty to start with and then no pressure to tie up quickly on the bank.

I bought the fox one and the rod hutchinson loaders and to be honest it's more of a hassle to use them. I make all mine up a couple of days before I go, so its all done in the house.

It's the same as the fox one, which i like very much, apart from the ring tearing with normal use. Guess the nash one is fine as well. The thing i'm excited (well something like that) about is that nash now also do a slow breakdown bag. The fox ones taste really bad, never had that problem with nash or esp bags. But would be nice if the nash ones have a neutral taste and a really slow breakdown time.

The last Nash bags I bought had a very slow breakdown time. 2hours at 40⁰ in the washing machine, and they were still complete, more than the plastic bag that they were supplied in after I forget they were in a trousers pocket after a visit to the tackle shop.


Ever since then I had not bought Nash PVA.


I find PVA loaders a hassle and normally just do it without.
Part of the reason is because I can get better dissolving PVA bags from another source on my syndicate, and the sizes are not the same as Fox or whoever.

Worst tasting PVA, KODEX.

I predomantly only use the small bags. Have tried most brands.

Disliked Fox & Nash, Have mainly used Korda or ESP. Recently Angling Direct were doing 3 for 2 on all PVA. Got some of their Advanta bags and they are pretty good.

It was working out 20p per bag for the Korda bags and with the 3 for 2 only 8p per bag for Advanta.

For tying up I use ESP PVA tape

Having used bags for some considerable time, without doubt the best bags are the Korda solidz - never had one split on me after tying probably over a thousand bags, the only thing about them is if you are fishing where the water is warm, you need to double bag if you are fishing over 3.0m depth.

I tried the Fox rapide system and perservered with it, but you dont get to get the bags tight enough, (plus the Fox bags are pants) but if you are fishing a short distance that shouldn't be a problem.

Try to keep the contents of the bag as small as poss, use the smallest pellet you can to fill the bag and keep tapping the bag as you fill it to keep the air gaps as few as possible.

Tie them off with tape rather than string and trime everything off neatly, it's a ballache, but do them before your session and you'll have them ready to go, never accept 'that's close enough' because your using bags, if you would have re-cast if using a different system, then do the same with a bag...

I use the fox bags and sent some back to them due to strong taste when licking the bag and it was down to a bad batch the recent ones are exactly the same as other brands now

Hi - been using the fox rapid load for ages and it works really well. DONT use the fox PVA though really do not like it, bad taste and poor melt. I use the ESP PVA and it works really well with the fox rapid load system
