So any metal workers on here that can assist me with this.
I have a solar P1 worldwide pod,and as much as I love the pod-I hate that stainless look.
Is there anyway of getting stainless black,that's robust to last on the bank?
What I have read and such is it's more of a chemical process but I don't have a clue with this kinda stuff.

No there isnt. It would have to made from ali then anodised.

I'm thinking just wrap it with black or carbon wrap..
Would think it can be done by chemical etching but would be considerably easier to do during the manufacturing process. Some stainless parts used in the semiconductor and chemical processing industries had serial numbers etched onto them using feric oxide.

Have a look at cerakote mate. Ceramic coating, hard as nails. Seen some motorbike bits done in it. Lovely.....

Just sell it and buy the pod you want.

I used rust-oleum multi purpose spray in matt black, gave it a light coat, after 8 months its got a few chips and scrapes here and there but I'm now happy with it.
I'm not 100% but would think if I ever wanted to sell it, a rag with thinners on would take it off.

I mean it cant be done if he already has then pod, it would have to be done in the manufacturing process. There must be a reason why 99% of the stuff that is black is ali.

I think Hammerite do a primer for stainless steel, it will then need a top coat.
Try googling 'hammerite stick to stainless steel'.

You can try the methods mentioned by I can't see them meeting your requirement of being robust.
In a few months time whatever you use it will be start to look tatty.
Just get used to the stainless look and worry about something else?

You'll get a tough finish powder coating, possibly with a good etch primer and spray paint.. but the telescopic nature of the pod and multiple adjustment points mean either they won't work any more or a good percentage will stay raw stainless steel

simply SELL it you will get good money for it and buy a cheaper black pod that will do the same job
i MUST CONFESS being sucked in over the years with over priced over engineered pods lost count but have included Solar worldwide with global extension and every extra and a Amiaud peche pod that cost in excess of Euro 650 and at least 7 or 8 other pods at different times
and to be honest I still have one of the first Fox Quattro pods that I bought of a mate for £45 and its does exactly what you need a pod to do
