So angler recently posted on well known fishery Facebook page that he fouled hook and weighed one of the biggest carp in the lake. Is that ok thing to do? I'd rather put it back unweighed as it seems wrong to me. 🤷♂️

No from me, i watched a youtube video the other day with something similar, where two lads saved a carp within the snags that was caught in some fishing line. As it was a decent size, after letting it settle, they then weighed it and took photos 🤷♂️

Weighing is different to claiming. Getting a current weight on a foul hooked fish is one thing (although I wouldn't do it myself), claiming it and getting pics is another.

Can't see what the problem is really, up to the individual what they do, as long as they don't try to suggest they 'caught' it and treat it with respect. A few years ago I unintentionally foul hooked a big bream when lure fishing for pike on a certain Cambridgeshire pit - I weighed it more out of curiosity... 18.04! I took a picture of it, who wouldn't! Can't claim it mind, but hey... not every day you see a bream that big.

I was in this predicament a few years ago. Hooked a fish on a zig whist a bailiff was present it turned out to be foul hooked. He said it was a named fish and hadn't been out for a long time and would I mind giving her a weigh?. I did politely say I didn't really want to but he insisted so we weighed her. Next thing he was saying can we have a picture for the site!. I declined and told him it does not count and I wouldn't be having a picture. It is an awkward position to be put in especially when the owner or bailiff is trying to force you into it.
No harm in a quick weigh if that's your thing
The age old question.. do foul hooked carp count.. only yourself as an individual can answer that one.. for me, your only kidding yourself personally. As for weighing a foul hooked fish. If it's to record a fish's progress, then why not. Some fisheries demand that all fish are weighed.

I really cant see any problem at all ??? as all you had to do was insist the picture was a close up of just the fish you didnt need to be in the picture at all ?? no drama ?
