I like a nice glass of red, but until recently a nice glass of red was from a £6 bottle from sainsburys, a special occasion might get a £20 bottle of chateuneuf de pape from a supermarket.
That's been ruined now as I'm about to open the second bottle from a case of xavier vignon gigondas a client gave me.

Most wines in those price bands are pretty much the same. Must admit I do like a Chat D Pap, funnily Aldi do some good ones from time to time but they go very quickly.
South African and Ozy stuff for every day and some good French stuff for Saturday nights and Sunday lunches in our house.

Sainsbury do a range called 'SO' which is organic and sulphur free. Under a tenner and the lack of sulphates is a big plus. Worth a try

If you're in Sainsbury's try the Campo Viejo, it's a Rioja, yellow label. Used to be £6 a bottle until it got popular, now around £8. They do a reserva and grand reserva version but personally I don't think it's much better, nice drink for me that. You can also get the Faustino Rioja Gran Reserva for around£15, I still prefer the former. It's on the menu tonight lol
Penfolds are deffo worth a look, they produce very good reds, bit more expensive, try their Cabernet Sauvignon, top drink that or the Shiraz ain't bad too. Different versions, some are blends, you want the Max ones, around £20 if you fancy a treat
Depends what you are looking for in a red. Something lighter, try a Fleurie, Cru Beaujolais wine. Sainsbury's stock a Georges Duboeuf Fleurie, decent drink for a tenner or Sainsbury's own, taste the difference range aint bad
They use to stock a Chillean Pinor noir of the ConoSur brand, relatively cheap but a top drink that was then I found it relabelled, and not as good, may do a reserve version? But worth a look
Villa Maria, New Zealand is decent stuff pending on your preference, the Brancott stuff ain't too bad either, rebranded, used to be Montana

Somewhere between starting the second bottle and sampling the home made lemoncello I was a bit rough this morning 
I like the campo viejo one scozza, I prefer the carta roja gran reserva sainsburys do tho, red and white label with a gold net thing over the bottle, usually on a deal for £6 at least once a month

Most of the aldi ones I've tried have been alright, yet I gave up with marks and Spencer, may have just been unlucky but I kept getting horrible ones, they all seem ultra sweet to me

Suppose it's what you like at the end of the day, sup more white myself of late, saying that, just had some CV, start early on a Sunday. 1 x Corona and some wine so far lol
Stick to Tesco or Sainsbury's myself, find Asda very expensive for decent wines! Failing that, have a look at majestic wines, used to be bulk only but now by the bottle. Find a lot of the smaller shops pedalling **** £££
Know a bloke who used to have his own Italian restaurant and pub, used to be a waiter at a few top class places across the globe before he settled down, really nice fella, had some real good chats, a mate, used to buy it direct from Italy, posted before on here, used to buy cases off him for cost, glad he packed in lol, sulphate levels through the roof after I had a **** load of fizz off him when I had the bloods done once

Any Malbec from Waitrose for me........prices range from £7 to £30.......all of them are bloody lovely!

Malbec is known as Cat in the Loire Valley, Oxeroy in Southwest France, Medoc Noir, Tintourin, Noir de Pressac, or Kersey. Wherever I've come across these names. But the most interesting I remember seeing on weinjoker.com. There were interesting polls of people drinking what kind of dry reds and whites. And all the results were published in joking form. Almost 80% of the people drank the same wine under different names.
