One of the best winter baits I've ever used from Nash is the Coconut Creme. Always seemed to catch them even in some savage conditions.

Got a nice deal on them, 30 kg at 5 euro/kg and fished it alongside scopex squid 2 years ago. I believe it was 3 to 1 in favor of the strawberry. I never know what to make of those results, but they were what they were. Pink works, strawberry works.
They are (too) hard, smell nice and are made of absolute nothing, just a carbo bait with a good color and a good flavor. The plume, again read the ingredients it's nothing, also works very well
As you can read, not a big fan but they do catch rather well.

Checked out the ingredients list on a bag of candy nut crush recently and you're right, to say they are simple (cheap!) mixes would be an understatement BUT in he right situation they work for sure

I used them for a couple of years now and it has become one of my favorite autumn/winter/spring baits. I glug the hookbaits really intensive and with a few drops of strawberry oil pallatants.

Not far off. The candy nut has tiger flour and yeast as well. To be fair it didn't look terrible, quite a coarse texture.
Even though a lot say flavours don't work I suggest it's the strawberry oil palatant that makes the crush baits attractive
