I'm after a shelter for use on short day sessions, basically something that goes up quick and will keep the rain and more importantly the wind off me. Not looking to use it for overnighters as already have a bivvy, but also not ruling anything out just that my main priority is that I can sit under it in my chair with a bit of kit.
Know you can get cheap basic brollys but not sure how well they'll work with a bit of wind, plus a bit more protection at the sides might be nice.
Budget is £150
What do you recommend?

Thanks, looks like there's some love for the Fox Specialist! I'll try and have a look at one but in my mind was after a shelter with a bit more shelter.
Done a bit of searching and the Fox Easy Shelter Plus is more along the lines I was thinking, any opinions on this?

I've got the first camouflage fox easy shelter that came out a few years back and I love it for day sessions. Goes up in seconds and can fit most my gear inside. Very sturdy. Keeps me out of the wind and torrential rain and comes with solid door, mesh, and see through doors.

I've had my fair share for day fishing

Korum pentalite was crap
Oval brollies too big for me for day sessions.

I take a cheap nylon 45” if fishing the river and moving around a lot and a 50” koala nubrolli for carp fishing

I've got a fox specialist 60 inch brolly as well but find that too big, takes up too much space in swim and a lot to carry for just a day

Normal brolly for me too, used nylon ones for years, had a black Daiwa one for quite a few year, 50ich with a waterproof coating, very good piece of kit. Currently have a 45 inch nylon, can get a chair, rucksack and rod sling under it

As a carp angler you should be a weather watcher for me. The only time I take something more substantial is when I know it's going to be strong winds or pissing it down all day. I have a Daiwa mission day shelter, brilliant for wind swept pits, rock solid, just not deep enough. Failing that it's the bivvy with the front off reluctantly if it's going to be bad

Final frontier, a quality day shelter, Daiwa nearly had it for me, a little deeper and a zip in front storm panel option and it would be a 10/10

Light and mobile is the way for me

Ya cheep nylon brolly is very handy for short session I find it's good for using as a sun shade as well as rain easy to move I don't rate korum shelters I have the fibreglass 50 inch it will suddenly collapse out of the blue then I can use it a few times and it won't do it so don't use it I had the pentalite rubbish also had the supalite same again think the graphite is ok

Very interesting, as I too had the same issue with my Korum storm shield brolly,was nice ,till.i was under it,no wind or anything to speak of,and literally it shut on me ,what I was doing was making a bacon sandwich using the 27ul,..luckily my butty was OK..!

I got my money out of it though,...I'm actually looking around,ahead searching for a replacement for the compact mhr ,closet I can find atm is the Korum fibreshield or similar to Gerrys picture..hope the self closing issues are better though..

A brolly for me has to suffice for day session perching and carping ...and float fishing etc..

There's room for manufacturers to improve the brolly situation.or design..Still use and rate that compact mhr

Yes I think there was a problem with the Korum storm shield brollys

but apparently they addressed it and the new version the Korum 50inch Graphite Brolly Shelter is fine
