Fancy doing a spot of method fishing this weekend for a few small carp, I'll go and get a kg of vitalin for bulk and got some sugar and squid juice in the cupboard.
Anything else worth adding that won't cost me a fortune at the supermarket? Some corn I suppose, anything else?

Yesterday i came across carp usa on yt, with some guy making pack {?} bait. He added over date cherries in sirop. But salt and oil would be on my list for cheap and effective. And stock cubes.

I tried that ‘pack bait' about 15 years ago. Got the grits that they make it with, syrup, corn etc.... Made one big sticky mess, think I had one on it, from a lake that was carp soup.
Scalded pellet worked so much better never bothered again, got shown it in 92 and still using it today, nothing added. Only difference is it started with trout pellets and now use coarse ones.

Ahha yeah maybe I just just do that. Certainly a cleaner option 🙂

Just Vitalin, with some of your hookbait samples works for me.

Yeah that oat pack is pretty much what mine looked like. I gave it a go for a few weeks. Confirmed that the carp I was fishing for loved pellet.

Packbait is simple if you do it right😁
We expat Brits were educated by one of the great NC Paylakers, Tom Brooke.
A simple gritpack recipe is here

You can Google Oatpack, chow, etc......
I've often wondered how it would go on pressured UK fish, Frank Warwick has mentioned it a few times too.

It is the mention in his book that got me thinking about it. We used to have great times on Oxlease with a really basic mix and just wondered if it was still a thing these days
Egg, tuna, sugar, vitalin, corn and lake water was about it back then
