I've just been looking at the spombs on eBay has anyone used any of these cheaper ones there around £5 sounds to good to be true tbh buy two get third free crazy price difference between them and well known brands

I bought a couple last week and can't tell the difference between them and the real thing,haven't used them yet but at that price worth a punt.

I use them in the medium size on smaller venues, if I'm casting long range I'm still prefer using the genuine type as they feel slightly more robust. The eBay one's work asbsolutly fine but the swivel set up isn't as strong saying that I haven't had one fail

I've had 2 for a while now, the only thing that has gone wrong with both of them is the pin at the hinge starts to work it's way out and you have to keep pushing it back in otherwise it'll fall apart. I've put a small blob of glue on the ends now and all's good

Not recently but over the years I've bought cheap Spombs from ebay, the last lot were about £3ish.
I've always found they need a bit of filing down here and there until I'm happy with them but that's not a problem for me giving the savings being made.
Maybe they've improved lately but as I say my ones needed a bit of fettling.

the last lot i bought were absolute crap the metal spring part wasnt up to much at all and they didnt last the session through, i will go drag em out the bag and see if they are beyond saving.

Been using the same large red spomb copy for at least 3 years now, just replaced the swivel link when I bought it.

I bought a couple of the copy ones and found they had issues with opening on the cast, swapped back to the originals

I bought 6 Chinese Ebay version ,,medium spomb size I guess
So far 3 have broken /snapped at the hinge,,,plastic used is too brittle
If you get one to last they're pretty good
The tail wire is thin too,,sometimes need bending back straight,,

Thanks for all feedback I think I will buy a branded one get it from AD any problems can take it back is the spomb the best one or is there better fox Nash ect ect

Why not buy some fakes and a genuine.
See how you get on with the fakes and keep the genuine as a back up.
As I said earlier I've had to fiddle around with them before I use them but I've never had one break easily, even genuine ones have been known to break occasionally.

How many are you all getting through? I've had the same one for around 5-6 years I guess with no issues...
If I did loose it I'd just buy a new genuine one, not that it costs much more spread over that amount of time
