OK so found out the hard way that flat unhooking mats are *****.

Carp flipping all over the place as I'm trying to unhook them.

Is the answer a cradle type? Can you get summut half decent for sub £50 or do I need to spend more?

Carp only upto 20lb

this would tick all your boxes mate PLUS added advantage despite the lightweight compact pack down size it is capable of taking large fish too win win

I've got the advanta protector cradle and I got it some time ago so I paid around £50 I am well pleased with it it's light comes in bag which is big enough to take mat and scales ect goes up and down in seconds good protection for fish has cover and kneeling mat now selling cheap it's a no brainier mate tbh

Great price but just to large for my needs.

Peg spaces are small where I fish and need something smaller.

I've just realised that the one being recommended is the xl Advanta They do a smaller one which I have I looked at korum but after reading reviews it sounded like it's more of a river specimen fish barbel mat I was worried if I bought it then was told by fisheries that's to small then have to but another I recommend that you have look at one first before you buy

The korum is quite small. I've had fish to just under 20lb in mine and I don't think it would take any much bigger. Just bought one of the Advanta ones (they were a fair bit less than that price last week) and 1st impressions are decent for the money and will fit my winter lighter gear well

Nothing wrong with the korum one not everyone needs a huge mat if they are not catching bigguns. Opens to 800x400

I did say they could do with making a bigger one for bigger fish.

I use the Korum transition cradle,when carrying my kit,I have found it really good,for carp estimated to mid twenties,..but knowing some fishery rules I'd recommend the NGT cradle mat,it's big and bulky when folded up,but very lightweight and I use it part folded across my barrow bars. I have two of them.

I only use it on certain waters ..the NGT..People say they are rubbish,I've not found this with the cradle mat,especially as I have a permanent cradle outside 24/7,365 on my fishery ,
