I need a high powered torch to strap to my boat for far margin work at night (100 yards) as the lights on the boat aren't bright enough.
Looking on amazon there's millions of options, most seem to use a 18650 battery which I don't think will be much good.
Any ideas anyone? (Gerry) I don't want to spend loads but would prefer something half decent if possible. Would need to have an adjustable beam from spot to flood as well.

18650 batteries are absolutely fine. I use them in my vapes and in my torch for my air rifle. Easy to charge (you'll need a charger for it obviously), last for ages and along as you get a decent quality they are very safe. Register with someone like Fogstar who supply various batteries and chargers and they send you an email on a Friday for 15 or 20% off. Careful with which batteries you order as some come without the positive button on top and depending on what ampage you order they will release power at varying rates (you'll need something that releases a constant power).
Also, how much will you be wanting to spend on a torch?

Glue/Velcro couple of plastic plumbing pipe clip to the boat or another way and just buy something like this if you need it bright

Years ago when I had my Microcat, you could get a bracket that held a Mini maglight. It was held on by a strip of velcro on the underside of the bracket and it's opposite velcro part remained permanently on the top front of the boat. Do they not still sell this?

I've a pair of Ultrafire LED torches attached to the top of my boat, I think they are the T6 model. Bright enough at 140 yards to a heavily tree lined far margin etc. Take one18650 or AA in adapter. Attached to the boat using self adhesive adjustable cable clips. Can't find the exact torch on eBay but these are the clips item number 112486124553.
As mentioned they are blinding on the way back in though!!

On one of my boats the Anatec Mono I had a 12v mini halogen spotlight fitted that I could switch on from the handset I just checked and the dutch baitboat company I got it from no longer sell it sadly
