I have a Lake reaper and so far can only say good things about it !

You could always look at the second hand route - may be able to pick up a more advanced boat second hand within budget or one with some extras (extra batteries, solar panel, etc.).
one thing you have to be careful with!!
the lake reapers is if you want to use a deeper as most are incompatible with their radio gear !
something to consider ! yes you can change the radio gear but why bother with the agg ?
I know of 2 people now that upgraded to an Actor from a reaper both say its a big improvement

I completely agree with this my dad has a actor from a lake reaper from what I can tell it's miles better and much better to use, only thing that I don't like about the actor is the single prop at the back. He managed to get his stuck in some reeds and couldn't get out because of that I had to drive my x boat out to push it out the reeds 🤣

not sure about all the range but the Actor Plus has twin props.

Another vote for the lake reaper, very simple design, works as it should. Ive replaced all the internal stuff on mine with cheap ebay gear as i brought it spares or repairs and it cost me about 40 quid to change the speed controller, motor, servo's and fit some new lights that work off the handset.

2nd hand route is always a risk with electronics. especially of which go anywhere near water. I agree you could pick up a bargain but need to be sure its been well looked after.

As someone who has never used a bait boat till last week i used a friends ND tackle boat for the week and must say it was absolutely fantastic. It had auto pilot option which was great and within a day I was able to use it without issue.

. . I've had both Reaper and Actor and would say that they both have their own pros and cons . . .
Actor - V Cheap, V Light, nimble, looong battery life, one handed control, deeper friendly / limited hobbit sized hoppers, no long term reliability info (yet!)
Reaper - Cheapish, heavier, standard batteries, clunky radio handset controls, deeper friendly upgrade option (at cost) / reasonable hopper, very reliable (can be fixed easily)
Based on reliability the jury's still out, however for the money you could argue if you get a few of seasons from an Actor before it dies it could still be money well spent . . .
