I tend to use shelf life boilies and have quite a few kgs, as I haven't been able to get out on the bank much this year. I'm currently keeping them in the office, but can still smell them despite being in sealed bags.
I was thinking of buying some airtight containers, maybe homebrew buckets? Can anyone recommend anything to store large quantities of baits and keep the house smell free?

If you can use a fruit flavor like strawberry your be ok, works 4 me

I use buckets like this to store basemix and dry dog food, sometimes you have to wrestle the lid off as the seal is very good, not sure the size I have but mine will easily fit 10k of basemix or 11k dry dog food

one of my best things I have bought to seal and prolong the life of my baits is a Andrew James Vacuum Sealer
and you can make meals and seal and freeze then drop them in a pan of boiling water to heat and eat no mess so many uses in fishing

Not ideal for 5kg bags. They are all vac sealed already, as unopened, but can still smell them, which is why I was thinking an airtight container as well.

I go to suppliers of animal foodstuffs, ie equestrian, pet foods etc, usually out of town and buy large plasic drums with clamp on lids, my last one cost me £10 and is big enough to hold about 2 to 3 sacks of maize etc (unopened) and loads of bags of boillies unopened.
They come in different sizes and a lot cheaper. I keep mine out in the garden in the cool shade.
I am not sure what their actual name is, as I can only find one on Ebay, which is very odd as I thought they was a common item and many people use them as water butts:-

Just found these ones which would be a handy size and if they have the clamps, maybe screw top and you live close by:-

That's them, and very similar to the ones that I get. Bit more pricier though but may be far better quality, I get the ones with the clamp, not sure how the others lids seal. Its hard to believe that 50 years ago I could have had as many as I wanted and still have 3 now manky ones as water butts on my first job before I joined the Army.
As for links, its the same with me and also posting pictures. Once upon a time ago I could do it, then I could not. After a lot of trying, I discovered my service provider blocks it under its spam filters etc. But its years since I last tried, perhaps it may work again as they may have had public pressure on them to allow it.

Home brew buckets are not air tight, they're just a normal bucket.

Judging by some of the comments on the Recent Ridgemonkey bucket thread . I'd say they were pretty airtight. Expect to loose a nail or two mind...

If you have a Wilko close to you they sell 25ltr fermenting bucket for home-brewing for £10. I use one for my bait ingredients.
