Been given a rare opportunity from the missus to fish 5 or 6 nights and with that, I'd quite like to try a commercial venue that is worth travelling to from North Yorkshire. Naturally, I lean towards Farlows, Bluebell, Linear... however, looking to hear opinions from others

Take a look at Lakemore Fishery mate near Crewe just off Jnct 17 of the M6.
Google the website and have a gander, I've just done a 5 day session on Horseshoe lake, and it will now be a regular for me, what an amazingly stunning place with some beautifully large carp and catfish.
I CBA travelling 200 miles south and setting up behind someone waiting to get a peg.

I wouldn't be going to any of those, I would be thinking of somewhere where you can book a swim, and know its there for you. And before anyone says 'what about watercraft/finding the fish' there's no chance of that at you suggested venues anyway, it will be slot in where you can.
Manor Farm lakes near Biggleswade have a Facebook page. You can't book a swim, but will always get one, due to their booking system.

Booking a particular swim is just stupid imo, but I agree with you that some place with a booking system (i.e. you can book into a limited number of spaces and select a swim once there) is the best idea in the current climate.
Worth looking at Elsons on the Stanwick complex. They have 15 swims but only allow 10 anglers on I think. Really pretty place and has some proper ones in there

Cromwell lakes is decent for a weeks fishing. It's very secure. Nice clean toilet and shower facilities. And booking system online so you know you can get on

Some of the pegs on horseshoe are terrible with no water to go at,it's a stunning place and Mark the owner is a decent bloke.Its just a shame all the swims didn't have more to go at,some bloody big roach in there too

I'm not keen on the idea of having someone pitching up behind your peg waiting to jump in. Heard this happens often on Bluebell.
Like the idea of booking on somewhere but not booking a swim. My local has a system where you book and prepay for a specified swim although sometimes you arrive and see fish in another swim. Would be better if it was first come first pickings but be guaranteed a swim.
Heard of Cromwells too. Looks decent. And Norton Disney. That could end up being like another Bluebell as it becomes more and more popular. Could be worth a punt.

I'd agree with that mate, the top three are the best, down the sides it's an underarm chuck. That said, I still think it's stunning. I will be there in a few weeks and also on Longlake in Sept.

It's crazy how the carp hardly get fished for,I was on there once and had 3 good fish right under my rod tips when I woke up in the morning.Like you say it's a stunning place

Got three trips booked there between now and the end of September, massively looking forward to it. I won't be targeting the carp, fishing on double 20mm pellets.

Baden Hall speci Lake, wouldn't have to travel that far either, got some nice fish in it too.
