Ive seen a few people soaking there boilies and pop ups in liquid. Does this actually make a difference and attract more carp or is it just a marketing ploy?

Has anyone started doing this and seen results?

I suspect youll get people saying it's a waste of time and people saying it works in equal measure.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Like any method/tactic I'm sure there will be times it will work in your favour and equally times it will work against you or at best make no difference at all. Remember it's in bait companies best interests to tell you it's the best thing since sliced bread to sell more product.

My advice is try it for yourself on your own waters and judge for yourself.

Alex, ignore what you see and read online... go out and be your own trail blazer.. We can tell you are keen but no amount of internet “guff” will ever make up for time on the bank. Get out there, try something, make the odd mistake along the way, but learn from it and improve, if needs be come back here for advice...
Most of the guys on here grew up pre internet, you either saw what others did, heard a rumour or read it once in a while in a magazine. Go fishing and leave the keyboard alone, we all made mistakes, had **** gear but still caught, get out there mate... the best thing in a carpers armoury is time spent on the bank, whether fishing or just looking.

I am going fishing shortly. Just waiting on new kit to arrive which will enable me to go night fishing for the first time.

Stick to one type of bait, fish a pop up, wafter and bottom bait on each rod, keep baiting just enough to get a bite, find the fish either by sight etc or asking around, get your bait to them without causing too much fuss and I'll guarantee you will catch mate. All the gear is great and makes time spent on the bank enjoyable but it doesn't put fish on the bank. Try, try and try even harder, nothing comes to the lazy. Keep looking, listening and look some more. If you think you are in the wrong spot, you are, move.
I've just spent 2 days working down on my water I could have fished but didn't fancy it, only 2 guys fishing, neither had caught, I had to drag one down to the back bay with a rod to show him where the fish were... we were both in awe of well over a dozen fish to 30 plus feeding on bait in 18” of water 2 foot from the bank, that's what fishing is all about, we were both like kids squealing, stifling gasps etc
Did he catch one? ,yes and no, hooked one eventually and lost it, I will say, I don't use Ronnies and after seeing one fish mouth his bait multiple times I won't be anytime soon...
Feel free to ignore or accept my mutterings, but above all else enjoy and if in doubt ask! 👍

Very true. You can have all the gear and knowledge in the world but if your not in the right spot that counts for nothing. Location, location, location.

I completely agree with what your saying, and trust me, I am trying to fish as much as I possibly can in this current climate. From the little time I have spent on the bank I feel that I already learned possibly the two most important aspects of carp fishing: Location and time of day are paramount.

Only from studying another angler on my water have I learnt that a lot of the carp are tucked away in the margins under an overhanging tree and they are only feeding after 6pm, when the light starts fading. With this knowledge, I have decided my best option would be overnight fishing, hence why I am asking all the overnight gear questions.

As I'm sure you will understand, carp fishing is very expensive and there is an absolute minefield of products out there. I obviously don't have the liberty, nor money, to try most of these products out in the field which is why I have come to this forum to hear people opinions on what is worth while and what isn't. The money that is saved on unnecessary products will only go towards paying for time on the bank. That is my view.

But I get your point entirely. Less talky talky. More fishy fishy

I totally understand where you are coming from with regards gear, buy the best you can with current resources most definitely but don't let the gear dictate how you fish. As I alluded to a lot of guys myself included will have done nights using far worse gear than we have now in the past, but we suffered because of the passion that is carping, it's not about umpteen different pop ups, stickered up buckets, repping brands and etched kettles, it's about the fish, the drive and the things/people you witness along the way....
I'm 100% certain those fish will be feeding elsewhere at other times of the day or night. That overhanging tree spot might start producing at first light etc or stop producing altogether due to pressure... it might be that the other angler refreshes his rods at a certain time, causes disturbance and the fish only move back to feed at 6pm? All things to bare in mind, I wish you well mate, get out and catch ‘em, and keep us updated as to how you get on. H

I put liquid in my bags and even on the outside of the bags I just feel the more attraction in the water the more confidence I have, but then I'm not casting bags out I'm dropping them in the edge of the canal.
Are you sure?
