ive started keeping a notebook for the details of my sessions down my syndicate.

I did for a while and found it really useful. If I'm honest I plan to start again, as have used and logged details on Fox Swim Mapper over the last year. You can mark gravel spots and areas you have caught from, however I will be logging more info in the diary with regards to low / high pressure, weather etc, looking at wind direction, temos etc. Definitely really helpful, also logging bite times helps. You could also potentially be looking at catches during certain moon phases

ive been jotting down temps and pressures throughout the day. i enjoy writing as well so its a win win.

Yeah if I'm honest I really enjoyed it, I only stopped logging a diary when mine got wet and I lost a lot of info, which is why I troed using Swim Mapper. But it's definitely not the same 🤣

It's a really good idea
When my dad died and I was sorting through his things, I found his old fishing diaries. Details on temp, wind, tides (he was a big sea angler), catches, sketches of the beach at low tide for features etc.
Sat for hours reading them and have an enduring ambition to visit all the places myself...

I have sone for years, every so often i find it very enjoyable reading through my fishing history....the mrs calls it my anorak book
Always wanted to do this myself the only thing that has put me off is the things I'd write down

I used to put every session down into a diary:
Wind and weather, rod position, baiting situation, rig and lead set-up, fish shows, even if I went stalking.
I stopped when I stopped fishing Barham, my Mrs got fed up with me transcribing notes from diary to PC.
Sadly when we split up, I lost the lot, diaries, notes and pics.
I did once send Johnweddup on here a copy of a year or so, think it was covering around 1995/6.

I've kept a diary of every fishing trip since 1978. I always log the location and weather but the content varies from a list of fish caught and the method or, it's more of a narrative that captures moods, thoughts and ponderings, recordings of things seen etc
Looking back over them is a great memory jogger and often reveals little gems that worked on the day but have been lost to my less than perfect memory. I'd recommend anybody to keep some sort of record of their day's by the water.
