I was going to have a go at making some pop ups to relive the boredom. What if anything do people use for preservatives and what sort of level? Citric acid, potassium, sorbate propylene glycol, glycerol?
Was going to use the BAF powder if that makes any difference.

No real need if air dryer for 3-4 days or so. Will last 12 months or more like that 👍🏻 But if you wanted to you can use any of those mentioned.

Citric acid, as it has the dual purpose of preservative and is a decent investigation trigger

What would the inclusion rate be for the citric acid? Ive always just air dried my hard hookbaits but im sick of fighting with them to get a needle into them lol.

I´ve got away with 0.5g Citric per 1egg mix
and i have used 10ml Glycerine per 1egg, in the past, and that done the job aswell.

Ive been using the BAF and has no issues with air drying them tbh.
Although my first batch went very crumbly - however I think this was partly due to making the mix to stiff and as a result they rolled poorly.
Made another batch earlier in week and they have been drying for a few days and appear better.

Have you experimented any higher? reason I ask is a I have seen a Frank Warwick recipe with 1 heaped teaspoon for a 2 egg mix, which looks very hig!! Most bait company sites recommend 0.5% to 2%,

Recommended by one of the doyens on the forum ... can´t remember who. Most likely Chem/MystyM i think .
Anhydrous Citric Acid :-
High attract single hookbait mix - 1.5 %
Normal basemix - 0.5 % to 0.7 %
Anything approaching or over 1.5 % can adversely effect palatability
FW´s heaped teaspoon = 5g for 2egg mix
Read a white paper, where they recommend 5 to 6g/kg basemix
