Can any of you friendly chaps recommend a compact cutlery and plate set for 1? Doesn't have to be fishing branded.

Not so much compact but more so lightweight ive got a set of lifeventure titanium knife/fork/spoon 1 medium sharp knife, lifeventure titanium plate

I can point you in the direction of UCO products,they do the switch spork combo,which I have and use,its very good..you can also get the complete,switch system,which is the combo spork,and plate,cup and bowl,its all on the UCO uk,website...
I dont do links,...I also use light my fire stuff...I keep 100% away from any carp branded stuff like that as much as possible,as the ultralight and wild camping gear is far superior..

I really dislike sporks, never got on with one.
I'm also interested in a compact cutlery set for 1 person, and another for 4 persons. NGT's sets look good but they only offer sets for 2 persons, unfortunately.

If that's the case, just buy 2 NGT sets, that will cover you for 4 people and if your on your own, just take 1 set of cutlery and plate etc out of one of the sets. But it is an expensive option when the items bought individually are dirt cheap and you can easily find a bag to put it all in. The fishing bags that Aldi sell in their tackle specials for less than a tenner are ideal for it and room for pans and stove as well..
Myself, just go into the likes of Wilko's or Boyes and buy your cutlery sets, they used to do individual items. Many years ago I bought a JRC food bag, it came with a cutlery set, it was the same cutlery as what Wilko's used to sell.
As for the hand towels you get in these cutlery sets, just buy face flannels from Wilko's etc, they are identical or just buy normal tea towels.
For a plate, get a Stainless steel one, not plastic. With a steel one you can use it as a frying pan if need be or as a pan cover and it will last a lifetime. Mine I got in 1982, and it is still as good now as then.
As for a cup, get an ex army steel cup, only cost a few pound off Ebay. Likewise as the plate you can cook in it. My cup I got late 1970's from a collection of US Vietnam surplus I bought, along with steel water bottle and its dated 1949, and its still going strong.
I also have one of these plates for when our lass comes with me and they are very good along with a French army steel cup for about £4:-

Also don't forget a tin opener which the NGT sets do not have.

Ive got one picnic style plate which I keep in my main bag, and a 3 piece cutlery set (the old school type that sits in a bottle opener)
