How are you guys setting up your markerfloat. With very thin braids I'm continually getting twist which is stopping the float coming up on every cast.

Used to piss me off no end in variable depth waters with weed mate. It's all about the float flight, then buoyancy. I use hand made ones and had no issues since

What reels are you using . . .? Are you feeling the lead down on the cast?

I've always found that spun braids such as whiplash are more prone to tangling on a marker setup

I use a 12" lead link of SBF (stiff bristle filament).
Lead, link, large eyed swivel, the braid shockie line passes through the swivel eye and i have a buffer bead (pierced sideways) to a quick change swivel (so i can change or remove the marker float).

. . .that's the one I use and have amazingly retained for so long . . .its a large lined ring with a smooth ceramic inner (like a rod ring) . . .think it was called the Fox Slik Ring . . ?
Most of todays 'kits' just have a big metal ring with a direct attachment to a swivel which I suppose could get trapped / twisted around?
Assume you could maybe butcher a decent tip eye?

Braid to an Amnesia shockleader.
On the leader is a Run ring with an Amnesia lead link. The lead link has a Breakaway Spin link on the end to attach the lead.
The run ring is stopped from hitting the swivel at the base of the marker float by two rubber beads.
I can't remember the last time I had a tangle, and if I am really pushing it for distance, I do not feather it down.
