I am looking for a new rod to suit the type of carp I am catching.

The average size of fish I am catching is around the 12lb-18lb mark but they do go up to about 22lb where I fish so I would like a rod suitable for those weights.

I am not fishing at great distance, usually no more than 50 yds .

I was thinking of a rod with around a 2lb tc but I am open to suggestions.

I am new this this as well, however from the research I have done.
Daiwa Black Widow G50 Rod (12ft / Test Curve 2.75lb)
Seems recommended and a good price.

Don't worry too much about the test curve but more the action
Yes TC matters but so does action

I'd be happy using a baggy 2.5 rather than a stiff 2lber

That kind of distance and size of fish you want a lovely players rod .. budget is key here..

If budget is not an issue, harrison accurix in 2.5 would be a great choice. Of course there are other cheaper choices.

Have a look at the Daiwa Cast'izm 10ft 2.5Lb, i have the 3lb version and i rate them higher then the Fs E-class gold

Or Armalite 10ft if you have the budget (i'm not a fan off stiff middle section 10ft rods)

Can't find any cast'izm rods in UK to have a look at them, for the op needs I would be using 9ft 2.25tc scopes.

I'd be using 1.5-1.75 barbel rods for that situation.

The rods I am using at the moment are Shimano TX2 with a TC of 2.75lb, I have a budget of up to £100 but could go a little higher for something that was spot on.
