I am sick to the back teeth of watching Named Anglers wearing no life Jackets on their YouTube,Company Videos,Insta etc. i'm sure you can swim, i'm sure you have an entourage of people filming you to help, it could be shallow... But people do copy you, Your rigs your bait even your Hair.
Daves on his first trip to france 300yards out goes over the edge thinks it was ok because its on YouTube..ITS YOUR FAULT.. So on any media life jackets Please Guys.
And if we as Carp anglers prove to be responsible we may be aloud them on more venues.

Real smart answer... 45 UK freshwater anglers drowned between 2012-2016 be nice to see that at 0 .. I've seen Mozza Maker and Scott Lloyd PROMOTING wearing a life jacket. I've got a sh** list of those that Don't.....

I'm sorry but how is it someone who makes a videos fault if some one doesn't wear a life jacket? We are responsible for out own actions.

It's not always that simple. We have a boat on our syndicate water, only for freeing a tethered fish and work parties. The syndicate leader, who's name is on the lease, bought a couple of life jackets and put a note out saying they MUST be worn whenever using the boat. I queried why he couldn't have just said "use at your own risk" and you should supply your own life jacket. He explained he'd had a chat with another member who's a retired senior lawyer, not known to pander to the H&S brigade. His scenario was that a member has a serious accident in the boat and is forced to be off work for several months. He admits it was totally his fault and has no claim against the lease holder, but he claims on his accident insurance. The insurance company would not see it like that and pursue the lease holder for damages for his failure to provide the necessary safety equipment. A worse case would be the anglers wife claiming on his life insurance.
A couple of life jackets and insisting on their use is a lot cheaper than a law suit.

OK so like I said these people who make videos aren't responsible for it?! Don't get me wrong I'm all for wearing life jackets but blaming people drowning on the makers of videos is daft. Any grown adult knows the dangers, if they choose to ignore them that's up to them

they're influencers people copy them, kids and newbies copy them. Then everyone's doing it because it's deemed as Ok. I know the probability of anything happening is low and if you are stupid enough to go out in boat without one on just do it off camera

If you supply safety equipment you also need to train the people it is intended for or you can be prosecuted if it is used incorrectly and something happens I'm surprised your friends senior lawyer did not tell them that aswell

Writing ITS YOUR FAULT is a bit much though chap. It's really not uncommon for people not to wear them either, I've seen way more people not wearing them than that have been over the years, and that's been since before all these Internet vids etc. Not everyone watches the vids either, so who do you blame for those?
I do agree with you that these in the vids should be wearing them to set an example, but to blame those that don't for others mistakes is daft imo
