As above guys, just got a deeper as an early xmas present to myself and was wondering on the best way to attatch it to my spod rod, currently I use a double figure of 8 loop knot to attach spomb, will this work straight through or is it better to start using one of the sea fishing swivel clips ?

I tie a 8" loop in the end of my leader on my spod setup, then simply loop to loop anything on to that which I will be using. It is the most secure way of attaching anything to the end of the braidl/eader IMHO which also allows for easy removal & changing when required.

That's what I currently use mate for spombing so can change different sizes if needed, I do a double figure of 8 loop makes it much easier to change over

Worth a mention, some folk have said they use wire trace as a leader due to their Deepers being grabbed by Pike 
Not had it myself, then again mines attached to the back of a bait boat, but the thought of it happening

I second Vossy's wire trace mention if there's pike knocking about. The very last thing you want is a pike snatching your Deeper never to be seen again.
It took me a while to get a decent trace as most of them have crap quick changes. I ended up buying a couple of titanium ones which have got sensible quick changes. You can find the titanium ones here >>Westin trace<<

Agree if you have a lot of Pike trouble on your water. In this case I would use a solid stiff Jerkbait trace. These are designed to cast out heavier items than your cheap nylon coated traces.

I use Cahira Nitinol 66lb titanium trace (double crimps each end) with a 100lb snap link to attach the Deeper. Might be overkill but I'm casting 300 quids worth of gear into the Trent and if it breaks or gets bitten off, it's gone!

With a wire trace would you still have the shock leader aswell ? I use my spod rod with 30lb braid and a 50lb shockleader, would you then attach this to the trace or remove the leader so braid straight through to wire tracer and could this be used for spodding aswell ?

I do as I use the setup for spoppering too, the bottom of the tidal Trent is full of rocks so I use a 50lb Armakord leader. I'd do the same if I was absolutely smashing out a spod, but otherwise I'd be happy to go 30lb through to a trace.
