Is it crucial to drop the lead on this rig ?
Do people use some sort of buffer near the lead when playing fish also it's not all too close to the lead with the hook and fish so close ?

No caught loads on chod rigs without dropping lead, the lead will be used by the fish to drop the leader or what ever so it will just have the short chod section left, if you drop the lead on take and get cut of etc the fish will be left trailing the line/leader etc
Most companies do naked heli buffer sleeves so line is protected from swivel at the lead

See some people tie a weaker line to the lead section into a small swivel i case of a break and also to help keep the fish away from the lead when playing

Its not fixed to the hooklink on them types of set ups, if you cracked off the hooklink would be able to separate from mainline and lead. Hence why it can be better to not drop the lead.

No different cracking off with heli safe, the lead will still be attached as it only releases the lead when the hook link swivel is pulled hard against the heli safe which won't happen if cracked off.
Fixed lead does not mean fixed to the hook link, it applies to the lead being fixed to the mainline or leader.

Naked chod with fixed leg and some sort of buffer will be the way to go then ? With the lightest lead possible

Makes sense crazy how many places want you to drop the leads when really they don't have the greatest knowledge about it,I see loads of the Korda heli safes on the bank
