Am I right in thinking that one of the main things that makes GLM attractive is Betaine. I'm looking to simply my mix in an attempt to free up a bit of percentage. My mix has glm and betaine in it. I'm thinking of dropping the betaine altogether and upping the glm a bit and another attractor.

What's your thoughts?

I believe that liquid Molasses is another potential source of Betaine content, cheap as chips.

Certain Whole grain cereals like wheat bran, Rye bran, Brown rice, and certain seafoods like Shrimp are worth looking into.

GLM also has DMPT which in combination with it's betaine content makes it very successful imo. Which betaine are you using, powdered?

You could drop the powder and use betaine anhydrous liquid, will get a bit more space for dry additives?

use the anhydrous betaine and forget about the HCl version of it.

Kelp and Spirulina are also rich in DMPT.
Combining some ingredients help you to get the best out of it.

Hello mate, i hope you are keeping well? If my memory serves me correctly, Mike Wilmott talks about this in the bait chapter of his first book and goes on to explain why she chooses to include betaine and GLM in B5 rather than one of the other.

Its been so many years i cant remember his rationale for doing so but could be worth a look into

Thanks for the heads up. I've definitely got a copy of that book. Read it years ago but for the life of me I don't know what Ive done with it! I'm worried that if I go up into the loft to look for it the Mrs will bend my ear to get the Christmas tree out, and I refuse to cave in this early!

Hope you and yours are keeping safe and well.

Where do you source your anhydrous Betaine? Seems a lot harder to get hold of than the HCl

Feedstimulants in Holland, or possibly Baitwize their UK agent.

AA baits do it in bulk or if you're in a tackle shop then Sticky's version is anhydrous. Expensive though.
