Hi,
I have a MK1 Angling Technics Microcat which I have had modified to self prime and its also had a Smartcast depth finder put in the bottom of the boat.
The Batteries are a pain in the bum though as they are heavy and don't last very long when mapping out spots.
I'll get virtually nothing money wise by selling it for a new boat with the same features. So I want to modify it...
My Question is is there a plug and play Li ion Battery I can replace the Acid cell heavy batteries with ?? Is there anything else I'll need to do to get it running ?
Has anyone already done this ??

If u struggle to find out any info give this guy a call 07821 944356 David Ravenhill is his name he owns Raves waves bait boat servicing and repairs on all AT baitboats he will know if you can run the boat on LI ion batteries without any mods to the boat

Fairly sure that Dave will tell you to contact Lupu Alexandru. He builds the batteries to order and supplies the connectors needed.

find any 7.4v Li ion battery you want and get an adaptor to couple up

Im getting them made as the have to be balanced (Volt load) to work in the Boat.

I asked this very question of Joe Baitboats Jacobs on Facebook about my Waverunner Sport, he said as well as the cost of the batteries it would also require a new PCB board, total cost wouldn't make it worthwhile, (talking over £400 easily) and he advised me to just get another couple of sets of lead acid batteries for about £50....

The problem I had was I bought my AT Microcat MK1 new, then had it modified with a fish finder and depth finder, therefore I have a lot of money invested in this boat and it works wonderfully for what I need it to do. It draws a lot of power every trip out with the rods though. I had 6 X Lead Acid batteries to carry each long session which was killing me (The batteries held a good charge). It was not a option to sell the boat as I would get nothing money wise back to put towards another more newer advanced boat. So started looking into this...
I contacted the Guy above Alexandru.
He's done a few sets now of Lio on (Lithium) batteries for the AT Microcat for other people. People taking them to France for a week and getting great joy ! He said there are two choice of Batteries that will work on my boat. I've opted for the stronger longer lasting charge batteries which he is building as that what he does for work/job. I have bought one set so far and will try them out but he reckons they will last well over 3-4 days of 3 rods boating.
I believe you cannot just buy these batteries off the shelf as such as they have to balance the power, as the original batteries are 2 x 6v volt batteries, where as these new ones are stronger so needed to be the same in there load output, so not to burn or over load the original electrics in the boat.
I have also bought a balance charger so when they come i'll do more of a review. For me I cannot wait not to have to lug those heavy lead acid batteries around with me when looking for swims. I was using 3 x sets of the AT heavy duty batteries per 3 days as my boat is modified with a depth and fish finder. Now i'll just have one light set of Lithium batteries to take.

Is he building a new part for the boat as someone above suggested or just batteries
What is the weight difference likely to be as it sounds like a great weight saving per set
And roughly what is the cost
