I tired this years ago and found it made absolutely no difference to my catch rate... just saying

EDIT: By the way I mean no disrespect to Wraith as I had a lot of time for him and he was very helpful and clearly knew what he was talking about.

Me too. I spent 6 months preparing a load. Took them to France and they were out-fished by a standard out-the-tub white pop up.
Agree, no disrespect to the author, I'm not saying that my experience was conclusive.

Got to worth trying yourself if they interest you and the thinking behind them.......makes sense fish are possibly looking for minerals at certain times of years rather than carbs and protein??

www.carpology.net/article/features/the-truth-about-salt/

Worth a read.

I listened to a jim shelley piece saying he spodded out something like 40kg of rock salt and fished boilies over the top to catch two tone.

If he did that then it's utterly irresponsible. 40kg of pure salt will kill anything on the lake bed. It will create a dead zone with no life.

That's not true at all. He used salted seeds.

The jury us still out for me, I prepared some years ago and forgot about them , but found them at the back of my fishing cupboard, they were absolutely rock hard like marbles.

I rehydrated them in squid sauce and took them to my lake , I had 4 30lb fish in 24 hours something no one else has done as far as I'm aware. It's not an easy water either.

Not sure if it made any difference but the fish started spawning about 3 days later !

The other thing I found was that the baits would come off during the fight , so I started meshing them .

I've never repeated the success of that session again, so maybe any bait would have done the same ?
