Woke up late last night (about midnight). Couldn't get back to sleep. Came on the PC for a couple of hours, finally venturing back to bed around 3am.
Visited a few "regular" forums (not all Carp I might add) and all were "up to date" as far as new posts were concerned.
Just woke up proper, visited all the forums again, and this was the only one that had any new posts since 3am.
Are carp fisherman insomniacs?

Hahaha I do suffer insomnia when working on projects. After a fishing session be it just a day I'm bloody shattered and get a good night's sleep.

I think we forget that these forums are on 24*7 some people work nights etc...

I've just found a large hole in my sleeping bag.Is that why I'm losing so much sleep ? I'll get my coat.
Seriously though I work shifts and can be getting up at 2.30am or going to bed at 4am a week later. It's murder.

Never slept well at all really. I'll go 3-4 months with an hour here and an hour there. Afterwards I'll sleep for about 2-3 good nights.

Fished for a week once in Feb or March and on one of those nights at around 4pm and with the wind howling down to the bottom end of the lake and with not a sole in sight I casted down there. Back in my bivvy just after 4pm. Opened my eyes what seemed a few minutes later but it was 9am - slept 16 hours solid. Got out of the bivvy and before my very eyes a stack of anglers had set up to the right of me. Was a mare retrieving my line after theirs was over mine.

Take them curlers out at night. That should help.

I work in food manufacture and until recently had been on Monday to Fridays days pretty solid for a few years.

One of my shift managers resigned and I have offered to cover them (so I can get some more days off for fishing) till end of October - as such this is my second week of night shifts so plenty of time to have a look on here when I get a minute

I still struggle to get to sleep at night when carp fishing even after doing it for 30 years, the anticipation of what might be to come in the morning especially, still keeps me up until the early hours

I'm lucky if I get 3 hours sleep per night when fishing - even if blanking.

An owner giving me grief for not being up at 5-6am to watch for signs of movement can piss off.
