Sorry, I know there are loads of threads on Cameras but being a relative novice I am easily confused!
I want to change from my Canon 600D SLR to something more compact with wi-fi. Budget is £400 to £500 max and I would like it to have the following features;
* Compact body
* Flip screen for self-takes
* Wi-Fi/Bluetooth smart phone connectivity
* Compatible with an Intervalometer
Any recommendations/reviews greatly appreciated....

Which lenses do you currently have?
If you have anything better than the kit lens you might be best served by one of the canon eos-m range and an adaptor. I'd also suggest a viltrox lens turbo adaptor to get the full frame look out of it

Looking at a Sony A5000 that my wife had that i had completely forgotten about! It is definitely compact, wifi enabled, flip screen and i have just found a compatible intervalometer on Amazon. Will see what that's like before splashing out, could have saved myself a small fortune!

I'm currently using the EOS M6, great image quality at lower iso, kit lens is half decent and the full range of canon lenses are available too. Plus it as all the features you require, could do with in camera charging but not a deal breaker.

That A5000 meets all the requirements you listed Mat. It's perfect for what you're after.
I believe the lenses are quite pricey though.

I'm not certain on the focus system on that camera but if it's pdaf he could get the ef to e mount lens turbo adaptor to use any canon lenses. It would work with contrast af but it's pretty slow and hunts a lot.

Intervalometer turned up today and works a treat. My mate has a similar Sony camera and has just picked up a lens, (not sure which one) for about £180, it is e-mount so will fit mine, going to borrow it!
Going to have a play at the weekend and see what it performs like, hopefully i might catch a fish to warrant a self-take!
Will definitely hang onto the 600D as well now that this solution may well have just cost me £15 for the Intervalometer when i was prepared to shell out a lot more!!

The e-mount 50mm f1.8 is about £160 new (EF 50mm f1.8), there is a more expensive E model too but I must be honest I'm not sure what extra features/benefits this lens has.
