Hi guys,
Currently on a 6 rod Diawa Mission holdall and it's great and everything and I'll probably keep it for my trips abroad , or my 4+ nights in the UK, but I'm after something more streamlined for 99% of my fishing... I also think travelling with less will encourage me to get out a bit more for shorter sessions etc.! I look to benefit out of Covid with my employer considering me much more likely to be home-based in the not so distant future.
So, I normally carry around with me; 3x rods, 1x spod/1x marker and a spare 'fun' rod for the edge or whatever. Or if I lose a rod while I'm away
The Mission also houses my x-pod frame, sling and weight tripod. Lastly, my bank stinks and distance sticks.
^^ That must all weigh literally 30kg! Tomorrow for example, I'm on a local club lake and I'll only be fishing 2x rods - but I'll have everything else with me, and there's no need... I'm after some 'alternative' luggage ideas - I keep think about getting all my rods individual sleeves and only taking what I need etc. Thoughts on this? Recommendations?

How about a quiver that takes up to 6 sleeves like the aqua ones

Only take what you need, possibly leave extra's in the motor if safe.
I just use Velcro bands for my 2 rods, no covers, they get slung in my unhooking mat along with the net.
Must be a small quiver out there that takes a few bits?

take a look at the Trakker NXG compact rod sleeves, very narrow when zipped up, I got the 4 rod, good prices on eBay, think I paid £30 odd for mine a few months back.

As said below a Quivver might be your best option with seperate sleeves to strap rods individually in any combination.
I now fish a 2 rod and spod setup so am currently loving the Fox Camolite Tri Sleeve but when I fished 5 rods just used a 2 rod sleeve and a 3 rod sleeve as would only take the full set up on the barrow.

I tend to just use a 3 rod sleeve and if/when I need a marker or spod I can attach it to the outside of the 3 rod sleeve. I have the aqua 3 rod sleeve thing. I also have a 5 rod quiver ....it's an old chub one, I found the individual sleeves a bit of a pain, but that's because the chub ones are only 1/2 zip, if you go with individual sleeves my advice will be to get ones with full zips and have the zip on the back/spine of the sleeve ....it makes putting them in and getting them out less hassle.
I think JRC did some modular sleeve system where the you could clip individual sleeves together and use a single strap to carry over your shoulder ....that may be worth looking into ....at the time I thought it sounded like a good idea ....but for me a three rod sleeve works the best ....lots of my club waters are 2 rod only, in fact one of my other tickets is 2 rod only for the majority of the year

I'd be looking at a quiver too, similar scenario many years ago made me change from a fixed rod hold all. I presently have a Daiwa Infinity, my main rods are in the infinity quivers but others are in various manufacturers quiver sleeves, just make sure whatever quiver you buy that it has a strap and clip to hold the quiver sleeves near it's mouth (if you happen to buy other sleeves which might not clip onto the original)
Makes it very easy to swap rods in and out depending what your doing.
EDIT, Using sleeves also means your rods are protected when not on the quiver which is important to me.

Thanks guys! I'm going to do it... I'm thinking a quiver might finally stop me from taking everything but the kitchen sink when I go, and give my poor back a rest

Im using esp quiver with 5 rods
Used to use the same daiwa holdall and whilst fantastic its bloody huge
Also got the reel protectors with it

I use the nash rod skins and only fix them to the quiver when taking all five
3 x for fishing
1 x spodding
1 x marker
A lot of the time i just take the 3 rods in their skins, if that makes sense
