I need a pod or decent stick set up and everything I like IE korda singles or jag compact pod are bloody silly money

I still use an old Fox Quattro Rod Pod if it aint broke dont fix it

If you are just starting up again why are you spending fortunes on a pod? You could buy a front and rear pro lite buzzer bar and a couple of 11 inch sticks to get you going.
Then further down the line buy the goal post convertors and a couple more 11inch sticks. This would cover most situations, maybe add a couple of stagebites at a later date.
Then if you absolutely must have a pod, you can buy it on its own and use the sticks and bars you've already got. So nothing's wasted and you don't need to fork out for it all in one hit. This sort of stuff is a collection you build up over time.
Failing that there are always deals to be had at shows.
I used john Roberts butt grips for years on Solar then fox and then jag bars before I eventually went over lockdowns. I used Korda stows before I used mk1 and then mk2 safe liners on my jag bars.

Fox Stalker plus pod, £90 and totally solid. Will last forever unless abused, can use the legs as sticks.
And everything I have brought 2nd hand off here has been as per sellers description and condition, get yourself fishing then pick and choose what you want to get higher end etc.

Yeah, original Fox X-Pod here, one of my first purchases after landing a new job some many years ago now!

I have a simple answer to that:
You don't need to buy the most expensive gear straight away, or in some cases at all.
A TFG Oval Umbrella and overwrap costs around £175 for the two items, a Trakker brolly alone is around £160 and a Fox Oval brolly, £130.
A Nash rod pod comes in around £60, or the Solar for £300.
You don't need to spend £150 on a reel when you can buy a decent reel for £75.
Give yourself a budget and get what you need, then you can gradually progress and upgrade if you need to.

I find a lot of guys like the real pricey gear because it's expensive. They pay little attention to what their practical requirements are.
Not saying that's the case with you though buddy.
