So I've barely wet a line in 2 years. It's been 5 years since I was a regular user of the forum. Feeling the itch again now though....
Last 2 years I've been completely tuned out of fishing media. When I see Ali Hamidi or someone smiling at me on Facebook I've just scrolled on past.
So, I was wondering if there have been any genuinely interesting bait or tackle developments in the last couple of years? Something as groundbreaking as the hair rig in the 80s perhaps? Haha probably not. I looked on the ridgemonkey website today, and they've got some tidy looking cooking gear. Last time I was interested they only pretty much had the life-changing sandwich toaster and a not-so-life changing bucket!

Before you commit and buy anything visit the place/places you intend to fish, you will know if its worth starting again or it may put you off.

In the last few years I would say there's a couple of types of angler that have become apparent so watch out for them is my advise:
1. People who want to be famous, agree with virtually everything and anything that is said even if it is hyped up beyond belief, usually fluffy and nice things appeal, they try to be politically correct all the time and are still hanging on because they are desperate for a free packet of hooks.
2. People who take nothing out of fishing other than their own self pleasure. Fame and financial gain does not come into it. They do it for a passion so are totally unbiased. What I like about people like this is, they are usually genuine folk who are trust worthy and say it as it is.
Other than this, bog roll bags are now a thing of the past

Quite a few companies were knocking them out I believe. One of the must have items at the time, you wouldn't want to be seen having a crap without one

In my opinion, do a bit of float bashing/quiver tipping before sitting in a bivvy behind 3 rods, which can sometimes be the most boring and frustrating aspect of this game. Last thing you want to do is go to all that effort, catch sod all and then think "what was the point in that?"
