Looking for a set of decent budget carp rods that I can use when fishing a bit further out. Not looking to break the bank don't want crap quality either. What's people's views

Shimano tx2 intensity rods. About £80, 35 - 40 wraps quite easy with a good technique, .33 line and a tapered leader so you have a idea of their potential.
They look good, there not too stiff and have a good playing action.

Have a look at the avid exodus range, I wanted something in 10ft (they do longer versions) to leave in the car boot for quick 1/2 day sessions between job's etc pleased so far

From what I read, hear, the shimmy tx2 cannot be beat for the money.

Anyone's else use the exodus? They are very cheap but are they cheap and nasty

I wanted a cheap set of rods for fishing public waters in France. I got a set of Chub rs plus in 3.5lb cost me £100 for 3 which is ridiculously cheap at £33 a rod. They are very good rods though, I had no problem using them and have even found myself using them on quick day sessions rather then my Centurys as I can just chuck them in the car without any real protection on a quiver. I have had hard fighting french river carp up to 43lb on them and multiple fish up 33lb in the uk all with no problems at all. Look wise with the full shrink handles you wouldn't know that they cost so little.

Another vote for the Shimano, TX2 or TX4 if you can afford them
I stood beside Terry Edmunds when he cast 214 yards with a TX4 amazing to watch.
The European casting champs use Shimano TX rods that's why Terry recommends them.
I had a bit more to spend so got the TX9 amazing rods for the money

I recently got a set of 13ft TX2 intensity's following several recommendations.
Superb rods for the money.
Excellent build quality, good for distance work and better than I expected when playing a fish.
Absolute bargain 👍

I bought some Wychwood Extricators in 10ft for £35 each and they are amazing mate.
My main rods aren't that expensive either, Sonik Dominator X in Cork and paid £65 each for them. Have had fish to just under 30 on them with no issues. Not sure how they would fair up against a 40 or 50 but cannot see any issues.

Does anyone have any experience of the Shimano Tribal Tx-1a? I am considering ordering this version: 12ft, 3.5lb, 3 piece.
I am new to carp fishing, having just recently purchased my first carp rod, a Daiwa Black Widow 12ft, 3lb, 3 piece. It seems ok to me, casts fine, i have played a few small fish to 1kg on it, but no experience yet how it will handle bigger fish. I am considering buying another Daiwa Black Widow 12ft, 3lb, 3 piece, to give me a pair, but then i'm thinking why not try something else from a different manufacturer, with slightly stronger test curve, to give me more experience of carp rods. I can pick up both the Daiwa and the Shimano at £45, so they both suit my budget.
Would be interested if anyone has experience of the Tx-1a, is it any good, and is it better/worse than the Daiwa Black Widow?
