An educated call by them in the current climate - no one can criticise them for doing it. However... do we think it's strictly necessary? I went out a few weeks ago and didn't speak to or see a single person. For me, I certainly have less human contact bankside than I do in my house of 5. Be interested to hear thoughts.

I would think it's the amount of anglers they get on site

Also they are a business. Perhaps they feel it's unfair on their staff to deal with a constant turn over of strangers. Plus imagine the nightmare of trying to evacuate someone who turned up feeling fine three days before and goes on to develop pneumonia in their bivvy.

I was thinking that. I might sound like a fool now but driving to a lake and fishing from a swim in isolation can't be a bad thing can it.

Smaller places staying open is fine but large complexes like that with such high foot traffic it's wise to close

Well some people are blissfully thinking that "self isolation" will be an excuse for sitting at the lake fishing on paid leave for a few weeks.
I think they are in for a rude awakening....

Yep...do what your told u bloody idiots its peoples lives we are talking about! If it does go to lock down do it fullstop.

Each to there own in my opinion. I'm self employed so have no choice but to go to work. So at weekends I will go fishing. Less risk fishing than at work.

I'm in the same boat. No help in the emergency financial packages for the self employed. If I don't work I'm literally not putting food on the table. Plus I'm having to grab whatever jobs I can as my phones not ringing. I had a list of ten services to try to get in for this week. Not a single reply. I've had three boiler changes in the coming weeks dry up. I've got enough money to see me through a month then I'm ****ed. From watching the news it seems large amounts of people are treating this as a bonus holiday and ****ing off to the coast for a two week jolly up.

I could do with a few hours fishing to de-stress. My waters are quiet so I'm not likely to see anyone if I do go.

I'm thinking my only chance of fishing would be if the close season was relaxed on the rivers.
Oh and if anyone notices I haven't posted in a couple of weeks can someone track my Mrs down and tell her my gear is worth a lot more than she thinks

The more people do not stay at home where possible, the quicker total lock down across the country will come into force!

Until that day comes people like myself who are self employed and have a family to support will still be going out working
