Avid Benchmark X problems (19 posts / 4,629 views)

I've had the Benchmark X since May 2019 and used it for a few long sessions for the extra comfort. At the end off last year I noticed that the middle leg frame was starting to crack bellow the bottom brace near the welds. This then completely snap.
Contacted Avid who sent me out a replacement leg frame pretty much next day which to me sometimes makes me think that it's a known problem for them to have such spares on hand for a 24 hour dispatch.
New leg fitting and all was well until a recent session again when the rear leg frame has started to crack in the same place as the middle leg.
Upon sorting my stuff out last week I noticed that the middle leg which was replaced has started to crack again also after one use.
Avid are now stating to take it back to the place I purchased it from and let them sort it out which seems like a hand washing to me.
Anyone else had such problems with the bed and with Avid?

Total agree with you but due to the travelling distance back to the shop and finding the time to do so I contacted Avid to see if they could help direct.

Frames not cracked, but the legs slipped all the time, it's now retired. Piss poor and they know it.

Standard retail procedure, if you bought a tin of paint from B&Q that wasn't the colour it said on the tin, would you go back to B&Q or hassle Dulux?

Same happened with mine, so took it back to shop and they sent out a new replacement.
Did a bit of searching online on this particular bedchair and found a number of others that had similar problems. Luckily the shop let me swap it for the Solar wide sleep system and it's so much better as far as the quality goes

Exactly right, why do anglers seem to wanna go the the manufacturer instead of the shop? It just makes no sence.

The first contact made to myself was a rep from Avid over social media when asking if anyone else had problems or if I was just unlucky.
The offer was from Avid to send the complete leg to me without me asking for a replacement which was very helpful indeed. This is why when I had further problems contact was made back to them and not the shop it was purchased from.

A lot of anglers buy online. Most shops want return postage paid , which is a ball ache. To have to pay £15-20 for something that's faulty isn't right . So I totally get why people want to send stuff back to a tackle firm (can't be called manufactures anymore )

Mass production..so called 'monkey metal' used in the build.. pi55 poor quality control (if any) going to end in tears down the line somewhere.

Poor material and poor welding process. Had the same leg crease on my benchmark x took an age to get replacement leg, shame because it's the most comfortable bed out there imo.
Previously had issue with fox flatliter and paid £40 for a new leg which was of much better quality.when the other leg broke a few months later they wanted to charge me for a pair of new legs as they had stopped selling them as one item. They said I must of overtightened the elastic LoL # patronising ars@@@@@s
Good to see fox offer full spares list for their products nowadays 🤔🤔

Probably because the shops aren't very good at after sales
