Took a walk round a local water today and witnessed two blokes going out in a boat, standing not sitting with all the usual heavy winter gear on BUT, no life jackets.
There is always one as the saying goes, but two in this case.

I was on a work party this weekend and a guy was out in the boat all day over 18-22 ft of ice cold water without a life jacket. He was offered it several times but declined. Seemed a nice guy but if he'd gone in I wouldn't have been going in after him. I was tempted to remind him of a certain savay work party but decided to keep my mouth shut.

I would not risk my life for one of what I call the T.F.S if someone is so stupid to act in that way then it is to be hoped that they fail to procreate and continue to pollute the gene pool.

Deserves an instant lifetime ban for so many reasons.
Boats on our lakes are only allowed on work parties, and then it's compulsory to wear lifejackets.
These plonkers think they're macho, but in reality they just show they're idiotic and selfish. I bet their wives and children would want them to wear lifejackets!

If you actually use COMMON SENSE you don't need a life jacket on most waters.
You actually get some W*NKERS moaning people don't have life jackets on lakes rthat are no deeper than 5 feet.

That water is freezing, quite literally. If they had fallen in, the body would have shut down. A life jacket gives you the chance of survival in these temperatures.
Even on my lake if I'm in the boat tied to the bank while trimming trees I still wear a life jacket. It only takes one slip to end your life.
I've been on big reservoirs in a boat, wind makes waves reaching 3/4 feet high, fall in that without a life jacket and it is goodbye.

Do gooders?? Are you serious? One boat fatality is one too many. Life jackets /preservers/buoyancy aids..call them what you want SAVE LIVES....PERIOD. One slip in the boat, hit your head hard enough to KO yoursellfand you can drown in 6 inches of water if you go face down....Depth is irrelevant..... Let's hope you never need pulling out.... The only thing mad is your attitude
