It's one of the hazards of being an angler you can severely damage the fish you're after. It's your responsibility to make sure the fish doesn't suffer a lingering death after an accidental injury.
Not good angling all round at all.

Absolutely. I had some sympathy in that we've all had fish try to head butt us and generally get their own back, but that evaporated pretty quickly when the details started to appear.
That aside, the thread sort of sums up everything I hate about what carp fishing has become. A largely un-natural fishery with pellet raised carp with supplementary feeding required. Fish originating from Israel. Awful fish care. Groups of anglers on socials etc. What grates most is not having the nuts to call the owners and try and help the fish. Leaving it to swim off and die without even trying to help it is contemptible.

How is that relevant to what happened to this Fish?? At the end of the day we are sticking lumps of metal in living creatures. Taking them out of there living environment. Things like this have happened in the past and will continue to happen no matter how carefull we are.

Decided to watch the video, Looks right to me, snapped at the stem of its tail
Unfortunate what happened. I question how he picked the fish up in the first place, look at his hand position, too close to the tail to support the weight of the fish

I've just watched it too, I actually don't think the angler is at fault – it could have happened to anyone.
I see a creature that's so grossly obese, I can understand the rule “Photo's to be taken in the water” think it would be wise to add “Fish to be unhooked in the water, and weighed over the water” as a rule too.

To a degree this is in their rules Keith although it does state fish that look to be over 40lb if someone is not experienced enough to judge this then it should be the rule for any sized fish.
Any fish looking over 40lb should not be removed from the water, please unhook, weight and photograph in the water. These are big fish so please ensure your equipment is suitably sized anybody with inadequate equipment will be asked to purchase replacements from the fishery or asked to leave without refund. Please ensure you have the correct equipment before booking.
