Because the biggest take away from the situation of a trailer was that the line itself is the number 1 safety issue. Provides fuel for the fire of the anti fishing brigade. Never seen a magic twig in the flesh before but could understand the concerns of people. Having now seen the footage, it's no more of a risk than pretty much any other set up.
When you think about it logically, when playing a fish through weed, once whatever your chosen lead setup is has collected the initial clump of weed, any other weed collected is just gathering around the initial small clump. That's no different to it getting caught on top of a heli safe, top of tubing, round a lead clip or anything else.
I don't understand the people with the attitude of he's just trying to line his pockets/why the need for a mk2 if it's safe etc. It's a bloody business and as such, yes, they want to make money. The same as any other company in the entire world. How many other items of tackle are released that work fine and then a short while later a new version is released?
I also don't understand the whole 'I don't like hamidi so ******** to OMC' thing and don't get why it matters? Do people think all the biggest corporations in the world are made up of people you like? I've never once thought to myself whilst buying a TV 'I bet the bloke who developed this is a ***** so I'm not going to buy it'. Seems very odd to me and something that I only really see to this degree in carp fishing.
I don't really care for the weird names of the products, it's all a bit confusing to me and Ali obviously has a big personality that probably isn't my cup of tea. But I bet i could still have a pint with him and have a nice time? I don't think I've ever met a fisherman I couldn't talk to? We've all got that mutual interest that seems to ignite many a happy conversation.

His company targets a certain demographic with the products they bring out, I don't fit into this.

Anyone who thinks that adding a plastic product via 2 extra swivels in the setup offeres no more problems to a normal leadclip rig is wrong by a long way because it does . Wether it has caused issues yet is irrelevant because many lakes have banned it so reports of it happening will not be available , it's not for me but I don't suppose Ali will lose sleep over that 😁.
Regards the other products , I was looking forward to more choice and new items , but tbh most are just copy's of existing stuff , although a couple of their kickers were just what I was looking for but that ain't going to make him rich . It's hard to re invent the wheel , we use lines , hooks , just variants but it's about choices .

I think that sums it up really. I was fishing on the top with a ESP Surface missile 2 Fridays ago and even as streamlined as it is it still picked up and clumped weed, weed which can make any rig a death rig trap by clogging the line. I've posted this many times on the forum but you take rig tubing, snap the mainline off a decent way from it and try pulling the rig free..barely gets a mention and lots of folks inluding me use rig tubing at times.
People say the twig is banned here there and everywhere but when browsing Ebay and I come accross it, it's always sold well in the sold numbers, so it is appealing to a someone and OMC have their sales. To contradict that, I recently had a sales e-mail from a company and the 1st x pages were OMC, for whatever reason.
I can't help but think anglings changing, the Carp is the end of a process, and the process is being made more important than the Carp. The vidoes where they hold the Carp for 3 minutes to camera describing the process, wtf, I'd like to hold them underwater for the same time, see how stressed they get. If the antis wanted any purported proof of cruelty it's there and it's everywhere, in nearly all the vids.
Angling used to be about the whole experience, now it's heads down, powerbank on head in phone all day checking social media for the next big thing that will catch more Carp, those are the anglers OMC is targeting. I can't help but think Ali is one step ahead again marketing wise and while it doesn't appeal to older anglers the youth are the future and they don't care what anyone thinks, more power to them. I guess time will tell, without being too pesimistic, the angling market is a tough one to crack, will OMC manage it, or enough of a portion of it to survive, I guess time will tell.

I think it is necessary to be able to separate the product from the person.
Ali is brash, loud and in your face, in fact everything that I am not, so I can't identify with him but do not dislike him. I've never met him so have no reason to. I thought the tears were a bit over the top but hardly a world shattering event.
I don't like the product regardless of which company markets it. Every company has good, not so good and occasionally really **** products. I don't see the need for this product, don't like it's construction so it doesn't have a place in my tackle box, along with a lot of other products. Whether it can be proved 100% safe would not make me want to buy it. I just don't need it.
I posted on this thread in the early 100's posts that the inventor ( who has gone well below the radar since selling it to OMC) said the device was dreamed up when he thought “ what can I make that will strike for me whilst I'm tucked up safe and warm in my bivvy.” That comment says all I need to know for it not to be in my tacklebox.

Well said . . .
38 pages of posts just add to the mans marketing proficiency; seems a whole generation has been born that thrives off drama and he knows exactly how to manipulate it. . .he pretty much admits this when waffling on about his annoyingly off-centre (disturbs my OCD) Mr T mohican . . .looks more like an overgrown brazilian to me
The facts are -
1 - Its only fishing
2 - We all have a choice; buy one or don't

I think the days of 'there's no such thing as bad publicity' are long gone. Most lakes banned the twig, this pretty much proves my point. It won't sell as much if you can't use it on most venues.

Just Seems to be flogging a dead horse to me, anything to get it into the market.
Sometimes “you” need to let it go.

"All the fisheries that banned the Magic Twig are now going to have to ban the Magic Wand as well."
That would depend on the wording of their ban. Personally I banned all
self striking rigs after seeing what other worse monstrosities were out
there on the internet.
One of the main reasons for banning them is that having a rig that
potentially acts like a mousetrap just didn't sit well with me.

The guy is proof of how to build a brand from zip to a 1st division player in a fraction of the time any of the other also rans have taken . . .irrespective of whether anyone hates or rates one or ten of his products, he's got a consistently increasing amount of shelf space at AD and people are talking about OMC . . .fishing is the side show; sales and brand affiliation is the key

He was given £1 million investment by the owner of ted baker. I would argue half of the lads on here could do a better job with that backing.
