I'm in the blindness spectrum as well. The nuns told me it would happen, but I didn't believe them.

Turned out they were right....

I often see people complaining about Delkims giving false bites etc I always scratch my head ?as Its sooo easy to adjust them to completely eliminate this ?
90% of the time on lakes my settings stay the same and always perfect

in the day I switch to the bright leds
the sensitivity/range switch is always to the left + then sensitivity dial is set to 3 and rarely needs moving maybe just up or down a touch the only other times is when its really heavy rain the switch gets put over to the right- setting and dial adjusted until the rain no longer effects it but this is only in real extreme situations

the only other thing I ALWAYS do is turn the led brightness down at night
so simple to do hold the button in till you hear 4 bleeps this will turn on the night marker lights and set the leds to low so wont blind you in the night

then in the day simply hold the button in and till it bleeps twice this turns off the night markers and switches the leds to high so you can see them in the sunlight

I have been using them like this 100% trouble free since they came out

I had a set of 4 original Delks that I used with the original plug in transmitters & remote (TX 2000?) - these worked perfectly for 29yrs until they started to give up the ghost.

I bought a new set TXI-Ds last year. Out of four alarms and one remote I have had to return three alarms inc one twice and the remote twice as well. Every time Delkim has replaced the item with a brand new one and a free gift, like a mug to say sorry. There is no doubt that their customer service is second to none. Although every return I have made by Special Delivery leaves me out of pocket.......

I have had various faults - batteries draining, lights on all the time or not at all, constant beeping. There seems to be no particular reason for the faults, it's not happened after they have had a soaking and when they do get wet I usually bring them indoors after a session to dry out completely.

I am generally not too heavy handed with kit although they get used a fair bit - 2 nights a week year round. The fact that my original Delks lasted for 29yrs shows I know how to look after things!

In my opinion the TXI-Ds are overcomplicated and I defiantly miss a simple on/off switch. I'm forever looking at the instructions to remember how to mute them etc.

I still believe that the Delkim is the best alarm on the market - the sensitivity and way you can eliminate false beeps is unrivalled. But do I have faith that these alarms will last in the long term? Alas I don't. They have a three year warranty and to be honest when that expires I will probably get rid of them.

As a side note I have a couple of matchbox sized Wychwood alarms that cost about £15 each - apart from the fact they don't have a remote they are fantastic. latching light, sensitivity and volume adjustability. What else is really needed?

How did you set them up for a big storm abroad Gerry? I used to turn mine off in the end and watch the tips, initially I'd set the sensitivity as low as it could go switch them over to the minus setting loaded springers on the braid to pull them tight and they'd still play a tune like Jimi Hendrix with a slide playing on acid.

I had a few sets of Delks over the years as well as many other brands, one set I had bout 2000/2001 ish they were spot on and never had water issues the other set were a nightmare which I had around 2009 the majority of the heads would stop working after a big storm or persistent rain, they'd work again once dried out at home but not ideal when your out on the bank mid session with 2 out of 3 or 4 alarm heads dead, the functions and settings were a doddle most of the time(except in a big French thunder storm)

It's each to their own but I do prefer Fox alarms which I had pre and post Delkim phase, I have noticed a lot of the new model TXI D's up for sale on selling sites and pretty cheap as well at £200 for some sets, it seems there is still either a love hate relationship with Delkim alarms among anglers but I do wonder if there is a bigger issue with the new ones as there seems to be a lot of second hand sets up for sale already and quite cheap at that.

Should of kept my Ace alarms now they were decent

Fact is all Fox alarms from the NXR/NTXR onwards look like p** - I don't care about how watersealed they are, neither do I care how easy it is to switch on and off / change the colour of the LEDs / use on a frozen lake in winter / submerge on Lake Superior - they look like a kids Tonka Toy collection glued together with pritt stick - on this basis alone Delkims are the superior product - the end

I had a set of NTXr alarms for four years and they never missed a beat, got up Xmas morning to unpack some pressies only to find my son had brought me a set of Delkim TXI-D alarms, I swore that I would never use Delkim alarms again but as they where brought for me I had to bite the bullet and use them, I passed my NTXr alarms to my grandson l, though I have not had any problems with the Delks I just don't like them, they are just to much of a gadget and I still have no idea how to use the various settings so I just use the volume and sensitivity buttons, what I would give to go back to Fox

I must say I have had very similar experience. My TXI+ alarms I had for many years and never missed a beat . They were easy to use and bomb proof.

Unfortunately cant say the same since going over the the TXI-ds. Similar issue where one is on its way now to delkim for draining a full battery in a 48hr sessions. The volume control dial on 1 alarm and on receiver sticking and multiple false beep on all no matter how much I play with the sensitivity. Either have constant beeping or require a foot of line to go before alarm goes off.

Really disappointed and wish I kept my TXI + alarms. They might of been bulky but they were the perfect alarm for me. Luckily Delkim customer service as mentioned are fantastic and I know faults will be fixed but annoying non the less

I doth protest sir - I was a Fox brand advocate for nearly 30 yrs (SX's/SXV's/LXR's/MMXR's and RX Digitals) however their current offerings are not only a backward step in terms of functionality they do, as expressed, look like d*g sh*te toys that have been assembled in a Shenzhen sweat shop by an overworked slave with leprosy.

My little mouse coffins are not only compact and bijou; they look the part and are made and assembled in an Essex sweatshop by an overworked asbo with ADHD . . .

I am not a tackle tart and I find nothing wrong with the design of Fox alarms, they do what it says on the can, that's good enough for me
