The local retail park near me was gridlocked all around today, and there isn't one cycle lane....
I don't get the ‘just keep piling more cars onto the roads' argument. It's ridiculous. We HAVE to provide a safe, greener alternative wherever possible, otherwise cities will just become gridlocked pollution-fests. It's not a conspiracy, it's common sense. The cities with the best cycling infrastructure have the most cyclists commuting, and the majority of those are each taking a car off the roads.
And what's with people in cars (almost always one person per car) always blaming cyclists and cycle lanes for the congestion they're sat in...oh the irony.

Is it common sense to gentrify an area where councillors, ex MPS and people of influence live, an area where there is high car ownership and high property prices. Then close off their roads and divert the traffic, cause gridlock to an area where poorer people live and there is low car ownership. An area where Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah who used to live previous to the scheme before pollution helped to kill her and that was put on her death certificate. This area is now worse.
A scheme that her mum Rosamund who's a clean air campaigner is against.
