I used to roll my own when younger but that changed when I started using bait much more and then I bought....
Nutrabaits BFM & Cranberry, then Raspberry, then a chap called Lee on a syndi I was on was using his own flavour on BFM, LPX which I'd still use to this day if still available. I did try Trigga for a year or so, but went back to BFM.
Tried briefly Activ 8 when it came out (O.K) Carp Company Icelandic Red & Caviar (I Liked a lot but kept using BFM). Also liked Solar Top Banana at the time as a alternative to BFM, still use a Banana boilie to this day.
Richworth Crab & Mussel, by Christ that was a good Tench bait, I'd still use that to this day for them too.

Premier baits with fish feed inducing oil and peach when you had to buy the separate ingredients. I had to find out what a capelin was. The ingredients from Premier also formed the basis of my first method mixes back in 1996.
Mike Winstone was field testing for mainline and put me on the Activ8 right from the off. I wasn't aware it had changed due to my decade in the wilderness, so it looks like I won't be using that. As others have said it was also a devastating barbel bait, but also catfish loved the stuff.
My all time bait of choice doesn't belong in this thread.................sweetcorn.

Richworth tuties,tropicana, and tigernut in the 80s,then made our own with bird food from haiths,and fishmeal from Izac Spencers in Fleetwood 90s then nutrabaits enervite with kryston ambio and strawberry 90s, mid 90s
went on hutchies Liver mix and attractors, as used by Martin Clarke,think he called it the hauler mix

I'd second that. The Fish Base Mix, peach, and nodd oil, with added crushed fine trout pellet and garlic salt was a winner for me back in the 1990's

If this is Lee Walton you are referring to then he was a great inventor whose speciality was blending various attractors. LPX stands for 'LeePex'. In other words it was his version of Scopex and hugely effective it was/is too.

That's the one Ken The water used to see the guys from NB every now and then, a lot of NB bait went in. I was afraid if I referred to it as Leepex no one would know what I was talking about

I caught a lot of fish on maple-8, it wasnt an assult on the senses like many early 2000s baits.
