Same as in Greenwich, Lewisham. Made things so tight you have to crawl around. Just adds to the local pollution levels.

Don't you start with the commie stuff. I get enough of that from the stormtroopers on the non carp section
Christmas will be lovely as usual. Hope yours is too
We could argue the toss all day long. My point is that it's people refusing to adapt that exacerbate the problem. If people dont change their habits then every scheme will fail . Didn't work out for the dinosaurs did it?

One thing you can no longer do is take the most the direct route to my local hospital.
You have to sit in traffic on the South Circular road, that's road that's been made worse but used to be where young Ella KIssi Debrah used to live before she died of pollution, the first person to have that as a cause put on their death certificate.

Mal have you heard of Ella's mum
Rosamund
She is a World Health Organization advocate for health and air quality
She stood for the Green party in 2019
She runs this website
Clean Air For All
Sounds like a person with similar values to yourself?
From the Wiki link this is what she has to say In a 2020 interview with the Guardian
For people who live in an LTN, yes, life is better, I don't deny that, but their traffic is going somewhere. You cannot live in a neighbourhood where one part has an LTN and children are cycling and playing outside and the roads are safe, then pop along a couple of roads later and there's gridlocked traffic. We cannot live in a society like that.
Some more, I can find you loads more if you're interested
She's on Twitter, why don't you message her or go through her website and tell her that she can't pick and choose and must adapt her ways.

I was replying to Wandle mate
I'm on the same page as you. I work in the city, I've seen the carnage they have caused with their bird brain traffic ideas all around the city and east end
I dont however think it is some part of a great reset, social conditioning or what ever banner some people want to stick it under

I have and it's a tragedy. And it's not her that needs to change
I don't think you're getting what I'm saying
The schemes aimed at reducing pollution/ congestion will always fail if people refuse to buy into the overall picture. Some people need to use a vehicle, some don't but don't change habits and then you get your bottlenecks.
Imagine this...
30 Londoners' better halves ' why don't you take the bus to work instead of driving next week to see how it goes?'
'No chance. The bus is always stuck in traffic.'
Next week the half empty bus is sat in traffic behind 30 cars...
The systems aren't perfect but one of the key failings is the people who won't change even if they could

Pay a small fortune each year to tax your vehicle, same small fortune each week to put fuel in it then leave it sat there for a week whilst paying out again on bus fare. The bus you are then sat on next to complete strangers with more chance of catching the dreaded covid,no thanks I will stick to my nice warm car with heated everything and music playing. That is the attitude you will get Mal as that's how society is now,I see it in Alsager when parents are picking up their kids from school. The latest 4x4 sat, engine still running and they live literally 5 minutes down the road

I hear what you say but you need to accept that many of these schemes have been put in by people to serve themselves, more often than not they are in high car ownership wealthier areas, traffic is then displaced into low car ownership poorer areas.
Any scheme that removes bus lanes and deters people from using them is a bad scheme.
I'm against bad schemes.
You are right Rosamund doesn't need to change, she's an expert so I'll follow her judgement over yours.

Some big points in this thread, some irritating truths, like the parents who drive half a mile to drop their children off at school and empty buses.
There are others as well, when it is cheaper to drive to work than use public transport. I used to work in London, over 10 years ago now, but even then a season ticket on the train from Ipswich to Ilford, cost more than driving and parking.
Overcrowded buses or trains at peak times, no chance of a seat, so people drive.
Buses from Ipswich estates into the town centre cost more than driving in and parking. £4.60 compared to £3 for the time it took me to sort out my ESA and PIP.
Then we have traffic management, a roundabout in Ipswich was removed and replaced with traffic lights, at a few million pounds.
Air Pollution and congestion in the area has increased as now traffic is held up, especially at rush hour. The Highways Agency went to a traffic management company to get advice on how to reduce the problem, and were told 'put a roundabout at that point'.
Bus routes don't necessarily cover the right route. As an example the local 15 and 15A, two totally different routes, one going into Stoke Park and round, the other going Chantry onto Stoke Park, could help local residents and students by going out to Tesco's and Scrivener Drive, half a mile away.
There are also no longer any 'through' buses. It used to be possible to get a bus from Chantry and Whitton to Heath Road hospital and back. A handy route for staff, patients and visitors. Now you have to buy a transfer ticket, 2 tickets or have a season ticket and an awkward change in the town centre.
These all add up to more traffic on the road.

How much did your petrol cost? And wear on your car?
All these people moaning about rights being taken away, and then moaning about people taking a 4wd on the school run. Surely thats their right as well? Easy to get into, great visibility and safe when loaded with kids, what's not to like?

Loads to like if you are lazy ****. No need to get dressed, go in your pyjamas, drop the kids off, drive back home and go back to bed.
Are you still selling cars Dave, are they 4WD

Nah, management me. They don't like me talking to the general public.
I didnt used to bother with the pajama's, until the restraining order kicked in. Killjoys.
The 4wd's I drive emit lotus petals from the exhaust, none of that smelly diseasel stuff.

Negligible on both, it's around 2miles. Less time to drive than go on the bus, so the £3 parking is the easy option. Once I would have walked it, but sadly now I can't, hence why I'm claiming ESA and PIP

So adding to the congestion and pollution for the sake of a quid? Especially as the car wouldn't even get warm, so would run even dirtier.....
