Looks like that is what is going to happen. What is important is energy security and if that path means using our own non green sources on the way to fully green then we should, importing non green from elsewhere doesn't make sense to me.

We'll get far better energy security by re-instating the previously retired mass storage solutions for natural gas, so that we don't have to export to the continent, have them store it for us, and then have to buy it back for more. Greater investment in renewables; wind, solar and hydro. There's so many options! Except we went for the dirtiest one.

It's actually not a partisan issue, at least it shouldn't be; the Tories won't save us, nor will Labour (the Greens might) - this requires long term vision, planning, investment and implementation for the benefit of everyone regardless of political persuasion. Empty manifesto promises that simply try to get one party or the other over the line during an election don't make any difference; if you live on a flood plain, your house is still getting wet regardless of which box you ticked.

The people using food banks, unable to afford the energy that powers their kids medical equipment, or people who have to go to communal warm spaces are finding that life is becoming more and more difficult to afford. Yes, greedy corporations are to blame, but then so is the Govt., so is Covid, so is Ukraine. What is more important though.....the cause, or the solution?

Yep
There is a crisis for many. The problem is that they are and have been for years the most disenfranchised and dismissed in a society that is increasingly selfish and living by the 'I'm alright jack' motto.
