If it's purely down to bait (and rig) placement then it is far harder to achieve via a row boat than with a remote controlled bait boat. Lots to go wrong and it's bloody hard graft too.

Why,one might as well stay at home and play on a carp game simulation..

and IMHO is laughable

In the 60s I bought a Heron bite alarm and was fishing a lake when a guy fishing there came round and started ranting at me
Thats cheating your using an electric bite detector no skill involved just cheating !!!! ( he was a nob)

few years later I had boiled up a load of hempseed and was throwing it in the margins under the trees
when another errr person came round and started ranting

YOUR drugging the fish its cheating your turning them into addicts ( around this time lots of clubs started banning hempseed because of these rumours) he was a nob

and now we have baitboats

and we have err some people saying its cheating
same people that often tucked up fast asleep being woken up by a fish thats hooked itself

Technology moves on either embrace it or ignore it its YOUR choice

I have the upmost respect for Adam and would never call him a nob

but I passionately disagree with him about using the cheating terminology I honestly think its silly
and in 20 years time people will all be using baitboats and arguing about something else

Dont do it.... it waters down the acheivment for me. As with many things in angling i just dismiss captures that i dont agree with and put them in an imaginary bin never to be remembered again but i now do it silently rather than so vocaly as i used to do because if the rules on such waters allow it then theres no point. At the end of the day i understand the arguements but choose not to use one.

I'm probably in the minority here but one of the things baitboat captures does for me,is it somehow devalues all the old ,hard earned captures of yesteryear...

But then, you could say that about the hair rig too. Technology and knowledge will always advance, or we'd still be fishing with spuds and 'tank aerial' rods

Man loads baits into boat and sails it all around his swim whilst sat in his bivvy with the door down so have can see his IPad screen, repeats with all three rods, merit = zero for me

See, in the above or similar situations I fail to see the excitement as the “angler” holds the fish up for a well earned picture!

Thanks, but no thanks, like said, choices but when you start asking for merit and people know the real story behind the captures it becomes pretty pointless really, bit of a joke in some circumstances, the word desperate springs to mind

The reality is people can make judgement quite easily, knowing the water, the fish and how they were caught and then rate the capture based on merit, if you don't tick the boxes be prepared for all the flack you get, you asked for it
