If you believe in self declaration votes so much Mariupol the same day voted in their referendum to remain part of Ukraine. Now it's piles of dead bodies and rubble, caused by Putin's invading army.

I see Finland are now looking at joining NATO. That should be interesting!!!

The man is a war criminal, a crank, and his army are killing innocent people. What they want to do is provide the Ukraine with some decent long range missiles, share his location and wipe the **** out. Job done
If he gets a proper foot hold in the Ukraine it will not stop there, I guess the worlds leaders know this

Flip it Scozza, perhaps like North Korea, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan etc Russia is pissed with having the west (US) pushing onto and into their territory.
Ukraine forces has been killing Russians for years in the east of the country that didn't want to be ruled by the Ukraine yet forced to by the previous leader! Similar to NI me thinks or perhaps this special operation is being driven because he knew what was coming relating to the Gas and Oil his country produces and the fact he is being forced out the market?
I'm amazed at how easily people fall for the wests media outlets without any question......that said I should have seen it coming with what happened with Covid and the 100% belief of what people were told which is slowly coming out as plenty of lies and exaggerations......
I'm not upset chairman Mal.......I just don't believe everything I'm told blindly.....

As you know Wayne I'm no fan of any war and I'm also no fool when it comes to the hypocrisy of the UK government in years of financially profitable conflicts.
As for believing what you're told though... I'm assuming you haven't seen all of what you're saying first hand so....

Wayne,I have to say the most dangerous reality not only in this small over populated country ,but other places and countries,is the media,they control the minds of seemingly the vast majority of people every where,blindly and without question they follow,like sheep in a field..

Really simple answer to why he didn't take Kyiv is that he didn't have air superiority, which is even acknowledged by the Russians in that they failed to take take the critical air fields around Kyiv and hold them in the first few days of war.
Why do you think that now any strikes into central or western Ukraine are coming from ground or land based missiles?
They failed to take out air defences fast enough, and i'm guessing massively under estimated the initial successes the Ukrainians would have. Now the air defences have been massively reinforced by the west.
Its the fundamental difference between how they succeed in Syria compared to Ukraine. And why now they are taking such heavy losses.
Given that the entire "Special Operation" was planned on fast move to take Kyiv, to do this the best time was winter as the ground would be frozen, its how the west were able to predict he would make the move in a certain time frame before the ground thawed and slowed down the progress.. Its since played out like this,

I don't believe the Russians don't have far far superior air forces that could attack Kyiv but I'm sure he could fire Cruise missiles into Kyiv if that's the case?
Liberating the east seems like the simple objective in this special op......
